Ilhan Omar Gets Brutal News: DHS

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin has revealed that federal agents executed multiple search warrants on the same day they raided Rep. Ilhan Omar’s Washington, D.C., residence, suggesting the investigation into the Minnesota Democrat extends beyond her personal immigration records.

Mullin disclosed the development Friday, October 16, during an appearance on the Charlie Kirk Show, hosted by Andrew Kolvet, where he described the federal investigation as a “strong case” that authorities expect to bring before a grand jury.

The Homeland Security chief confirmed that investigators targeted several locations during the October 12 operation.

“She wasn’t — or it wasn’t the only place we served the warrant. There was multiple other warrants served on that same day,” Mullin said.

“We had a judge sign it, and we expect to be able to take the case to a grand jury.”

The revelation indicates that the operation involving Omar’s Washington residence was part of a broader federal investigation.

However, Mullin did not identify the additional locations searched or disclose who else may have been targeted.

He also rejected accusations that the investigation was politically motivated, arguing that federal authorities would not have pursued the matter without sufficient justification.

“We wouldn’t move forward, and President Trump didn’t want to move forward either, unless we knew that it couldn’t be politically driven,” Mullin said.

“This was about enforcing once again our nation’s laws, and it’s a strong case.”

The investigation reportedly focuses on possible immigration fraud involving Omar and members of her family, who arrived in the United States as Somali refugees during the 1990s.

Federal authorities are examining whether inaccurate information was submitted during immigration and naturalization proceedings, potentially affecting the circumstances under which Omar obtained American citizenship.

One issue receiving particular attention involves conflicting records of the congresswoman’s birth year.

Omar has maintained that she became an American citizen in 2000, when she was 17, through her father’s naturalization.

However, some records previously identified her birth year as 1981 rather than 1982, raising questions about whether she would have qualified for citizenship as a minor.

According to the New York Post, Omar’s congressional staff contacted the Minnesota Legislative Reference Library in May 2019 to request a correction changing her listed birth year from 1981 to 1982.

Library officials subsequently documented the request in an email dated May 24, 2019.

Investigators are reportedly examining whether any discrepancies in immigration paperwork involved deliberate misrepresentations.

Mullin also raised the possibility that coordinated immigration fraud could fall under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, commonly known as RICO.

He described a hypothetical situation in which individuals use fraudulent paperwork to establish identities or immigration eligibility, potentially allowing additional people to enter the U.S. under the same arrangement, per Trending Politics.

Such activity, Mullin suggested, could potentially constitute a broader conspiracy rather than isolated immigration violations.

However, he did not confirm that Omar or her relatives are currently facing RICO charges.

During the October 12 search, agents reportedly seized Omar’s cellphone, passport, personal computers and notebooks.

The warrant was approved by a federal magistrate judge, with prosecutors addressing protections for legislative materials because Omar is a sitting member of Congress.

Federal investigators have also issued approximately a dozen grand jury subpoenas, including demands involving members of Omar’s family.

Her sister Sahra Noor has reportedly been among those contacted during the investigation.

Omar has repeatedly denied wrongdoing and accused the Trump administration of using federal law enforcement to target political opponents.

Despite the growing investigation and Mullin’s statements concerning potential grand jury proceedings, no criminal charges against Omar have been publicly announced.

For now, the additional warrants and possible examination of broader conspiracy allegations represent significant developments in the continuing federal inquiry.
