At what point does incompetence or negligence cross the line to willful dereliction of duty and betrayal of a protectee’s safety?
With one innocent citizen dead, and three people injured as a result of this failure, it will take more than the resignation of a political figurehead to restore the damage done to institutional trust.
Less than one day before the series of fatal errors, a solution was offered that would have solved this problem in time to keep four victims from being shot.
But — for reasons that are not yet clear — a decision was made NOT to use the technology that would have saved a life.

In that tweet, Josh Hawley wrote a letter to Mayorkas further inquiring about details of his colossal failures of leadership in this matter. He has specific questions about a whistleblower report that the Secret Service was offered the use of drones to protect the site one night before the event, but they declined that offer.
Someone will need to answer for that decision.
It cost a man his life.
