Abigail Jackson, a special assistant to President Trump, discussed the issue during an appearance on Newsmax following the president’s speech.
Jackson referenced Olive Garden’s “Never Ending Pasta Pass” promotion, noting that customers must provide photo identification to participate, and compared that requirement to the ongoing debate over voter ID laws.
“In order to take advantage of their never-ending pasta pass, you have to show photo ID,” Jackson said. “I thought, that’s weird. Olive Garden takes pasta pass security more seriously than Democrats are taking election security.”
The comparison quickly gained attention online, with conservative commentators using Jackson’s remarks to highlight arguments in favor of voter identification requirements.
