Kash Patel, the new nominee for FBI Director under President Donald Trump, released a statement and vowed to “restore integrity, accountability, and equal justice” to the justice system.
Patel made this statement Saturday night, following Trump’s announcement of his nomination on Truth Social.
The decision to nominate Patel comes as President Trump focuses on reforming federal law enforcement agencies, which he claims have been weaponized by the “Deep State.” In his announcement, Trump declared that Patel would put efforts to address major national challenges, including rising crime and cross-border trafficking.
“This FBI will end the growing crime epidemic in America, dismantle the migrant criminal gangs, and stop the evil scourge of human and drug trafficking across the Border,” Trump wrote.
Kash Patel is no stranger to the fight against government corruption and bureaucratic overreach. As a former chief of staff at the Department of Defense and senior official in the Trump administration, Patel played key roles in exposing misconduct and advancing accountability.
President Trump praised Patel for his work in uncovering what he termed the “Russia Hoax,” a reference to allegations of Russian interference during his 2016 campaign. “He played a pivotal role in uncovering the Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax, standing as an advocate for truth, accountability, and the Constitution,” Trump said.
Patel has also been a leading voice against what he sees as the politicization of justice. In his book, Government Gangsters: The Deep State, the Truth, and the Battle for Our Democracy, Patel outlines his experiences tackling issues such as Russiagate, January 6 investigations, and other instances of alleged misuse of power.
The nomination comes after speculation surrounding other potential picks, including Mike Rogers, a former Michigan Senate candidate and critic of Trump.
Longtime Trump adviser Dan Scavino recently dispelled rumors that Rogers was under consideration, pointing to Rogers’ controversial record.
Rogers, who had questioned the integrity of Trump’s actions during the 2020 election, was deemed unsuitable by Trump allies. Critics argued that his selection would have undermined efforts to reform the FBI and prioritize election integrity.
By contrast, Patel’s nomination signals Trump’s intent to appoint someone with a proven track record of challenging entrenched bureaucratic systems.
Shortly after the announcement, Patel expressed his gratitude and outlined his vision for the agency in a statement on Truth Social.
“It is the honor of a lifetime to be nominated by President Trump to serve as Director of the FBI,” Patel wrote. “Together, we will restore integrity, accountability, and equal justice to our justice system and return the FBI to its rightful mission: protecting the American people.”
As Patel prepares to take on this pivotal role, his nomination has been met with optimism from conservatives who view him as a staunch advocate for justice reform. His appointment represents a key component of Trump’s broader strategy to overhaul federal agencies and ensure impartiality within the justice system.
