A podcast conversation meant to cover a range of topics instead turned into an extended back-and-forth over Hunter Biden’s sexuality, with the former first son offering shifting numerical answers throughout.
The 56-year-old sat down with host Luke Beasley for an episode of the Luke Beasley Show that ran nearly 90 minutes. The episode was published on YouTube on Aug. 16.
Early in the conversation, Beasley asked Biden point-blank, “Are you gay?”
Biden’s initial reply was brief: “Only a little bit.”
That answer prompted a follow-up from Beasley, who asked whether Biden fell “more or less than 50 percent” toward being gay. Biden gave a precise figure in response: “48.6 percent.”
Beasley kept pressing, asking Biden what his “type” would be.
“A little bit more masculine would be my type, if I was gay,” Biden said.
At that point, Beasley pulled out an AI-generated image showing himself and Biden in a close embrace, Biden’s left hand resting on the host’s waist.
Beasley used the image to challenge Biden’s earlier answer, telling him, “If I’m not your type, then why did you embrace me like this? Go ahead, take a look.”
Biden’s reaction to seeing the photo was one of surprise. “Oh Jesus Christ, I don’t know. I just, it all is coming back to me,” he said.
He then tied the moment to a period of his life marked by substance abuse, joking, “I was in a stupor at that point. I think that was pre-2019 when I got sober.”
The topic resurfaced later in the interview when Biden circled back to what he described as “the gay question.”
His percentage shifted downward at that point. “Maybe I take back 48.5” percent, he said, before landing on a lower figure: “More like 47 [percent] after that conversation. My gaydom went down a percentage point.”
By the close of the interview, Biden had changed his answer a third time, telling Beasley, “I just wanted to let you know that I am back up to 48.5 percent gay.”
The fluctuating figures became a defining thread of the nearly hour-and-a-half conversation.
Biden’s marital history came up as background context tied to the discussion. He married Melissa Cohen in 2019, only six days after the two first met.
That marriage followed the end of his previous one to Kathleen Buhle, his longtime wife and the mother of his three daughters.
Biden and Buhle’s marriage ended in divorce in 2017, closing out a relationship that had spanned more than two decades.
The Beasley interview fits into a broader pattern of Biden making appearances on independent and alternative podcasts in recent months.
