Cars in Tim Walz’s motorcade were involved in a crash on Monday while traveling to a campaign event in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The vehicles reportedly carried members of the press who were covering Walz’s Labor Day campaign event.
According to CBS News, the crash occurred before 1 p.m. local time on Interstate 794. While Walz’s own campaign vehicle was not involved, cars in the press motorcade collided. One person appeared to have suffered a broken arm and was being treated by medics at the scene.
Footage of the crash showed a significant dent in the rear of one of the vans, with two other vehicles behind it appearing to be smashed together, as reported by the Daily Mail. A male reporter was seen with a bloody nose, while a female reporter was suspected to have suffered a concussion.
Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene to provide medical assistance to the injured. Congresswoman Gwen Moore was also part of the motorcade but was not harmed. Both Walz and Moore continued on to their destination after the incident.
The crash is currently under investigation, according to Matt Smith of Wisconsin 12 News. Smith reported, “The crash is under investigation. The interstate was still open to traffic when the motorcade entered; one vehicle was involved. The driver said police were telling her to pull over.” After the incident, a new vehicle was arranged for the press, and they were able to proceed to the campaign event.
