During her appearance on “The View” as part of a media tour, Vice President Kamala Harris expressed full support for President Joe Biden’s leadership, stating she wouldn’t have handled anything differently during his presidency.
When asked by co-host Sunny Hostin if she would have made any different decisions over the past four years, Harris replied, “There is not a thing that comes to mind,” emphasizing that she has been involved in many of the key decisions.
Harris’ response could complicate her campaign messaging as Biden’s approval ratings have steadily declined throughout his presidency. Many expected Harris to position herself more toward the center on issues like illegal immigration and government spending, but her blanket endorsement of Biden’s presidency signals a commitment to the current path.
Biden has echoed similar sentiments, recently stating that Harris has been a key figure in both foreign and domestic policy matters. During a previous appearance on “The View,” Biden praised Harris, saying, “She has the energy, intelligence, grit, stamina, and the guts to do the right thing.”
However, these comments contrast with reports from Democratic insiders claiming that Harris has tried to distance herself from Biden due to his “horrible” poll numbers. A New York Post report last week revealed that Biden had privately expressed frustration that Harris doesn’t reference him more in her speeches. He was particularly upset when, during a debate with Trump, Harris stated, “Clearly, I am not Joe Biden,” in response to Trump’s claim that she aligned with Biden’s policies.
Harris continued in that debate, “And I am certainly not Donald Trump. What I offer is a new generation of leadership for our country.” These previous remarks seem at odds with her recent statements, which signal a unified front with Biden’s presidency.
