Huge: Feds Raid Mansion Linked to Prominent Democrat

“I will fight the serious false allegations made against me,” Eric Swalwell wrote when he announced his resignation from Congress in April.

Federal agents have since searched a luxury property in Beverly Hills connected to the California Democrat, according to sources familiar with the matter who spoke to Fox News.

Those sources tied the search to an investigation into alleged sexual misconduct.

Agents did not arrest or detain Swalwell during the operation, and authorities have not publicly announced criminal charges against him in connection with it.

The search coincided with the release of FBI records from a different chapter of his life.

On Monday, the White House made public newly declassified documents about his past relationship with Christine “Fang Fang” Fang.

The White House released the files through its newly established Government Transparency Task Force.

According to the records, Swalwell told federal investigators he had “physical relations” with Fang on several occasions. Their final sexual encounter took place in March 2015, the documents state.

Investigators questioned him about the relationship twice, first in May 2015 and again in March 2016.

Federal authorities suspected Fang of ties to China’s Ministry of State Security, the country’s principal civilian intelligence agency.

Reports have also identified her parents as Chinese intelligence officers.

The relationship had drawn national scrutiny before, amid concerns that Chinese intelligence operations were targeting American politicians.

The new documents returned Fang’s name to the headlines just days earlier.

The Beverly Hills search was not the first federal action involving Swalwell. Investigators previously searched his Washington, D.C., residence.

Agents also confiscated his electronic devices at San Francisco International Airport. Both actions took place in the months before the Beverly Hills operation.

At least five women have accused Swalwell of sexual misconduct or rape. One of them is a former congressional staffer.

Swalwell was campaigning for governor of California when those accusations emerged. He abandoned the race.

He also left Congress, where he had served 13 years. Before he stepped down, he faced the possibility of expulsion.

The allegations had threatened to derail his political career when he made that decision.

In the same resignation statement, he wrote: “However, I must take responsibility and ownership for the mistakes I did make.”

The two federal matters now in the news are separate.

The declassified documents cover events from 2015 and 2016, while the Beverly Hills search is linked by sources to the misconduct investigation.

Fox News reported on both developments, citing its sources for the search and the released records for the Fang relationship.

Swalwell now faces renewed attention on both fronts at once.
