Desperate Cash Grab From Ilhan Omar Amid Her World Falling Apart

Less than a month before the midterm elections, federal agents entered Rep. Ilhan Omar’s home. Her campaign responded by writing to supporters.

The email asked for donations starting at $10.

It cast the investigation as a political contest and told recipients the campaign needs money to prepare for whatever comes next.

“We have an obligation to fight back against this ludicrous, partisan investigation, and show that we will not let Trump’s abuse of power go unchecked,” the message stated.

It closed with a second appeal. “We have to be ready for anything that comes our way, and every dollar we can raise goes a long way. Thank you.”

Agents from Homeland Security Investigations, the investigative arm of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, carried out the search.

The operation falls within an ongoing Justice Department probe.

Investigators are reportedly reviewing paperwork from Omar’s childhood that her late father completed. Authorities have not released the full scope of the inquiry.

Omar, a Minnesota Democrat, arrived in the United States from Somalia as a child refugee. She later became a naturalized American citizen.

Federal Election Commission records show her campaign has raised $5.83 million for the 2026 cycle.

The filings cover January 1, 2025, through July 22. The Daily Mail asked her campaign how much money has arrived since the search.

Omar also posted her own response on X.

“For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation. I will not be silenced,” she wrote.

Her backers organized in person as well. Supporters filled an event in Minneapolis called “Stand with Ilhan,” which the Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations hosted.

President Donald Trump weighed in at a rally in Youngstown, Ohio, where he called Omar “a disaster.”

Trump also spoke with reporters. He said he had no role in the FBI search and called the investigation a Justice Department matter.

He added that he has always viewed Omar as “totally crooked personally.”

The president has accused Omar of marrying her brother to gain U.S. citizenship. Omar has denied the allegation, and no one has substantiated it.

Trump raised the claim again at rallies in December and May. The two have traded barbs for years, and Omar has described him as a “murderer.”

Democrats condemned the search. They accused the administration of aiming federal law enforcement at one of its most outspoken critics.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez denounced the search in a post on X.

She called it an unacceptable abuse of power, accused the administration of repeatedly targeting Omar, and pledged her support.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, who has faced a Justice Department investigation of his own over alleged obstruction of federal immigration enforcement, accused Trump of abusing his power against political opponents weeks before voters go to the polls.

Rep. Ro Khanna called the raid “simply chilling.” He accused the administration of going after political opponents and Muslim Americans.

House Democratic leaders Hakeem Jeffries and Pete Aguilar condemned the operation.

They demanded answers from the Justice and Homeland Security departments and asked why agents searched a congresswoman’s home so close to Election Day.

Authorities have yet to describe publicly everything the investigation covers.
