BREAKING: Trump Unveils New Press Secretary

The White House has offered Katie Zacharia the job of press secretary as President Donald Trump’s team moves to replace Karoline Leavitt following her departure from the high-profile position.

Zacharia, a former Department of Homeland Security spokesperson and frequent Fox News guest, has been offered the role, according to the New York Post.

She currently works at Fix California, an organization founded by Trump special envoy Ric Grenell that focuses on advancing conservative priorities in the state.

If Zacharia accepts the position, she would take over one of the most visible jobs in the administration.

Leavitt announced that she would leave the White House press secretary post by the end of August 2026.

The search for her replacement has since generated speculation over who would become the administration’s next public face in the briefing room.

Zacharia already has experience speaking on behalf of the federal government.

She spent approximately three months working as a spokesperson at the Department of Homeland Security earlier this year.

Her time at DHS came while Kristi Noem was leading the department.

Zacharia reportedly had close relationships with Noem and special adviser Corey Lewandowski during that period.

She left DHS after Markwayne Mullin took over as secretary.

Zacharia later explained that her departure was driven largely by family concerns rather than political conflict.

The mother of four said the long commute from California created significant strain on her family.

Her potential move into the White House would place her much closer to the center of Trump’s political operation.

It could also affect some of the relationships inside the president’s inner circle.

The Post noted that both Lewandowski and Grenell have had longstanding tensions with White House chief of staff Susie Wiles.

Because Zacharia has ties to both men, her appointment could introduce a new dynamic inside the West Wing.

Still, the source does not indicate that those relationships played a role in the decision to offer her the job.

Zacharia has a long history in Republican politics stretching back years before the current administration.

While in college, she interned for the Republican National Committee.

She later worked in the White House Office of Political Affairs during President George W. Bush’s second term.

Her background has since included political communications, media appearances and government work.

More recently, she has become a familiar face on Fox News, where she has appeared frequently as a guest.

That experience could prove useful in a role that requires daily interaction with reporters and regular television exposure.

The White House press secretary serves as one of the administration’s main public messengers, fielding questions from the press corps and defending the president’s policies and decisions, per the New York Post.

Leavitt became a prominent figure during her time in the role before announcing her exit.

Zacharia has not yet been formally announced as the new press secretary, according to the source.

The job has been offered to her, but the report does not say whether she has officially accepted.

If she does take the position, she would bring experience from both Republican politics and the Trump administration into one of the most closely watched jobs in Washington.

For now, the offer marks the clearest indication yet that the White House has settled on its preferred choice to succeed Leavitt.
