Trump Scores Major Victory Before Midterms

President Donald Trump’s job approval rating has climbed to its highest level of the year following his administration’s efforts to secure a ceasefire with Iran, according to a new Daily Mail/JL Partners survey.

The poll found Trump with a 47% approval rating and 53% disapproval, marking his strongest performance since late February and his highest approval rating of 2026.

The latest numbers represent a rebound after the president’s approval rating spent much of the previous three months between 42% and 43%, reaching a low point in mid-March.

Pollsters said the increase appears to coincide with growing public support for the administration’s efforts to wind down the nearly four-month conflict with Iran, as well as declining oil and gasoline prices that followed the diplomatic breakthrough.

The survey was conducted June 19-21, shortly after Trump attended the G7 summit in France, where negotiations to end the conflict became a central focus.

During the summit, Trump repeatedly argued that ending the war would improve global stability while reducing energy costs for consumers.

Those efforts ultimately resulted in a memorandum of understanding extending the ceasefire between the United States and Iran while negotiators continue working toward a broader peace agreement.

Financial markets responded positively to the diplomatic developments, while gasoline prices also continued to decline.

According to AAA, the national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline has fallen from $4.52 to $3.93.

Trump highlighted the economic developments in a Truth Social post earlier this week.

“19 million barrels of oil flowed out of the Hormuz Strait yesterday, an all-time record,” Trump wrote. “Oil prices are tumbling down, and the world is a much safer place!”

JL Partners founder James Johnson said voters appear to be linking the administration’s handling of the Iran conflict with improvements in energy prices.

“President Trump appears to have got a direct approval bump from the Iran deal, putting him on his second-highest rating of the year so far,” Johnson told the Daily Mail.

“That makes sense, given we know voters see a clear link between gas prices and the Iran conflict being open.”

The results also reflect a shift from a May Daily Mail/JL Partners survey, which found that 59% of respondents believed the economy was getting worse while energy prices remained elevated, per the Conservative Brief.

Republican voters continued to provide the president with overwhelming support, with 82% approving of his job performance.

Among independent voters, 38% approved while 52% disapproved.

The survey also found Trump with a 45% approval rating among Hispanic voters, while 41% disapproved. White voters gave the president a 46% approval rating, while Black voters registered 38% approval and 48% disapproval.

The polling comes during a busy period for the administration, which has included America 250 celebrations, preparations for a UFC event at the White House, and continued negotiations with Iran aimed at reaching a permanent peace agreement.

Markets have also posted gains during the diplomatic push. The S&P 500 reached an all-time high on June 2, while the Nasdaq Composite also set a record. The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed to a new high on June 16 before all three major indexes eased slightly in subsequent trading.

Whether Trump’s improved approval numbers endure may depend on the outcome of ongoing negotiations with Iran. The current memorandum of understanding establishes a 60-day framework for talks as both sides work toward a broader agreement while maintaining the ceasefire.
