Woke Mayor Mocked as Asinine Policy Push Goes Viral

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson (D) is advancing a new framework aimed at expanding city support systems for trans-identifying residents, a move that has drawn sharp political reaction online after its release came days after a violent Juneteenth weekend in the city.

The plan extends work tied to Johnson’s 2024 declaration of a “Transfemicide State of Emergency” and was developed through community engagement sessions, surveys, and input gathered by a city working group focused on “trans” residents.

City officials describe the effort as an attempt to connect services across housing, health care, employment, and public safety agencies while addressing barriers reported by LGBT Chicagoans.

In unveiling the framework, Johnson framed the effort as part of a broader push to strengthen belonging and access across the city.

“Every Chicagoan deserves to feel safe, valued, and like they belong in the city they call home,” Johnson said, adding that the initiative builds on work since the emergency declaration and aims to strengthen to build a more connected urban environment.

Rather than a single policy change, the document lays out five broad areas of focus, including coordination between agencies, expansion of partnerships with “trans”-led organizations, increased access to affirming health care and mental health services, improved housing and shelter pathways, workforce development programs, and expanded tracking systems for outcomes and service delivery.

Officials say the recommendations reflect concerns raised by participants about housing instability, employment discrimination, and gaps in access to care and support networks.

Criticism quickly surfaced online, where some commentators linked the timing of the announcement to a weekend of reported shootings across Chicago.

The framing of the initiative became a focal point in broader debates over public safety priorities and city leadership.

Conservative commentator Gunther Eagleman wrote on X that “Real Chicagoans are getting gunned down in the streets every week, but your big priority is another task force for 0.5% of the population,” arguing that the city’s focus should shift toward violent crime reduction.

Other reactions were more blunt.

The accounts Libs of TikTok and Retard Finder questioned the announcement directly, with both posting, “Wtf is a transfemicide state of emergency??” while another user dismissed the mayor’s leadership, writing, “This is the leader of a major U.S. city. We are not a serious country.”

Former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich (D) weighed in as well, arguing that the policy focus was misplaced given recent violence.

He wrote that Johnson “declared a ‘transfemicide state of emergency’ in Chicago after 1 transperson was murdered” and contrasted that with the number of shooting victims over the same weekend.

Conservative commentator Matt Walsh also criticized the premise behind the emergency declaration, describing it as based on an alleged crisis of “trans” homicides and challenging supporters to identify how many such cases had occurred statewide in the previous year, before asserting, “Try zero. Yes, zero.”

City leaders defending the framework argue that violence affecting transgender residents is often tied to broader conditions, including housing insecurity, economic instability, and limited access to care.

They say the goal is not to create separate systems but to address gaps within existing ones through coordinated planning and long-term engagement with community organizations.
