Bombshell MAGA Scandal Erupts

A plethora of MAGA accounts on X promoting an America First message have been exposed for operating from foreign countries, including Thailand, Nigeria and Eastern Europe.

The revelations came after tech mogul Elon Musk updated the platform to show an account’s country of origin. The change has already caused chaos across political circles as users discovered their trusted sources were not U.S.-based.

The update now displays the location directly on a profile page.

The new feature has pulled back the curtain on several high-profile accounts that post about President Donald Trump and the broader MAGA movement.

Democrat activist Harry Sisson celebrated the rollout. He said it was “one of the greatest days on this platform” and claimed Democrats were vindicated after warning about foreign actors.

An account named “America First,” which has more than 67,000 followers and regularly promotes Trump, Karoline Leavitt and Erika Kirk, was revealed to be based in Bangladesh.

After the update, many of its posts now carry a notice stating the account is based in Bangladesh and is misleading people into believing it is American and supports Trump.

Another popular account, “1776General,” describes itself as a constitutionalist and “ethnically American” but was traced to Turkey.

One of the accounts targeted by the update said it works in international business and is currently in Turkey on a contract.

“MAGANationX,” which has nearly 400,000 followers and describes itself as a voice for “We The People,” has been linked to Eastern Europe.

“IvankaNews,” a fan account for the president’s eldest daughter, was traced to Nigeria. The Dark MAGA account appears to be posting from Thailand.

The MAGA Beacon account has already been shut down, but its metadata showed it was posting from South Asia.

Conservative commentator Matt Walsh blasted the foreign-run accounts. He said Americans don’t care what outsiders think about politics, culture or elections. He said their “grift is over.”

Angry MAGA loyalists also confronted the accounts for misleading them. One person wrote that they were “busted.” Another told the account it didn’t “even go here.”

The update has hit the movement hard as accounts that post about election results and Trump’s immigration agenda are now being tied to foreign locations.

Another MAGA account was linked to Morocco, as the Daily Mail reported.

The feature also exposed accounts claiming to offer firsthand reporting from Gaza.

A man named Motasm A Dalloul, who describes himself as a Gaza-based journalist, was revealed to be operating from Poland. He rejected the tag and posted a video he claimed was from inside Gaza, though critics questioned whether it was altered.

The Times of Gaza account, with almost one million followers, was traced to East Asia and the Pacific region.

Scottish nationalist accounts pushing for the breakup of the U.K. were also tied to Iran. Profiles claiming to be a biomedical engineering student named Jessica and another called Ewan McGregor were discovered to be logging in through an Iranian app. Their metadata listed the Netherlands, but X says the access trail came from Iran.

U.K. MP Graeme Downie said the update confirmed that Iran, Russia and other adversaries are working to subvert political discourse in the UK. He said the country is already in a “grey war” with hostile nations.

X acknowledged problems with the rollout and briefly pulled the feature after backlash. Nikita Bier, the head of product, said rough edges will be fixed by Tuesday and the data will be updated periodically.

A note on X now warns that the listed country can change based on travel or temporary relocation and may not always be accurate.

Previously, users could enter their own location manually. The new feature relies on IP addresses, meaning it cannot be manipulated.

Bier said the new system is an important first step toward securing the platform. He said more tools will be added to help users verify the authenticity of the content they see.
