Bad Bunny Blasted: Bombshell Super Bowl Announcement

Following the announcement that Puerto Rican singer “Bad Bunny,” whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, would perform the halftime show at the upcoming Super Bowl, Turning Point USA released a statement indicating that it would hold an alternative halftime show during the big game.

Turning Point is calling its program “The All-American Halftime Show,” which is set to air on Feb. 8, 2026, according to The Hill.

Many conservatives are elated with Turning Point’s announcement, given Bad Bunny’s controversial anti-Trump political statements and inability to speak English fluently.

The Latin pop singer was recently seen attending Game 3 of Major League Baseball’s (MLB) American League Division Series (ALDS) between the New York Yankees and the Toronto Blue Jays.

Ocasio was seen sitting down during the rendition of “God Bless America” at the game, prompting further calls for the National Football League (NFL) to remove him as the halftime show performer.

Ocasio notably supported former Vice President Kamala Harris in the November 2024 election. His endorsement came after comedian Tony Hinchcliffe made a joke about Puerto Rico being a “floating island of garbage” during a Trump rally in Madison Square Garden.

The famed singer has also made his voice heard about the ongoing ICE protests across the country.

Last month, Ocasio said he would not conduct a concert tour in the U.S. amid ICE raids, per CNN.

“People from the US could come here to see the show. Latinos and Puerto Ricans of the United States could also travel here, or to any part of the world,” he said. “But there was the issue that … ICE could be outside (my concert venue). And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about.”

The Trump administration has also engaged in a form of protest toward Bad Bunny by revealing that ICE agents will be sent to the Super Bowl during the Latin singer’s performance, as Resist the Mainstream previously reported.

President Donald Trump was asked how he felt about Bad Bunny performing at the Super Bowl.

Needless to say, the president was not thrilled.

“I don’t know who he is, I don’t know why they’re doing it — it’s, like, crazy,” he said. “They blame it on some promoter they hired to pick up entertainment. I think it’s absolutely ridiculous.”

Bad Bunny’s expected performance at the Super Bowl isn’t the first time that the NFL has hosted Hispanic singers.

During the 2020 Super Bowl, famed Colombian singer Shakira participated in the halftime show alongside Jennifer Lopez, who is of Puerto Rican heritage

The pair delivered a subtle political message protesting the Trump administration’s immigration policy at the time, per The Guardian.

During the show, kids were put in illuminated pods, which presumably marked an attempt to mimic cages as a direct rebuke to the then-Trump administration’s family separation policy, as Democrats phrase it.

It appears that next year’s Super Bowl could fall in the same path as 2020, with a known anti-Trump singer performing on stage.

Bad Bunny recently addressed backlash over his scheduled performance by telling Americans that they have just four months to learn Spanish.
