A report from the Washington Post indicates that alleged Charlie Kirk assassin Tyler Robinson used the Discord platform to confess to friends shortly before his arrest.
The outlet reported that Robinson sent a message on Thursday to a private group chat, telling his friends, “It was me.”
The message was reportedly sent about two hours before officials confirmed he was taken into custody.
In the message, Robinson wrote, “Hey guys, I have bad news for you all. It was me at UVU yesterday. im sorry for all of this.”
The timing of the communication appeared to align with law enforcement’s actions later that day.
A member of the Discord group took a screenshot of Robinson’s message and provided it to the Post.
That screenshot now serves as one of the first documented pieces of evidence showing Robinson allegedly admitting responsibility for the attack.
The disclosure on Discord added to an already growing body of evidence surrounding Robinson’s alleged role in the attempt on Kirk’s life.
The revelation came as new reports surfaced about possible prior warning signs involving Robinson’s behavior.
Breitbart News reported that FBI deputy director Dan Bongino appeared on FOX News’ America’s Newsroom with Bill Hemmer on Monday.
During the interview, Bongino stated that people in Robinson’s circle were aware of concerning developments before the incident.
“People knew in advance,” Bongino said, referencing the information gathered about the suspect’s actions and demeanor leading up to the attack.
He suggested that individuals close to Robinson had noticed troubling changes.
Bongino continued, “There appear to have been multiple warning signs. There were people in [the suspect’s] network — friends and family — who had stated that he had become more political.”
He also pointed out that Robinson’s co-workers noticed behavioral shifts.
“I believe some of his co-workers stated that he had kind of detached himself when the topic of politics came up and walked away from them,” Bongino added.
The FBI official’s statements highlighted concerns that Robinson’s radicalization may not have gone unnoticed.
His behavior allegedly became more political and isolating in the weeks and months before the assassination attempt.
Resist the Mainstream reported Monday that on the day after Kirk was killed, acquaintances of Robinson are said to have begun circulating FBI surveillance images that appeared to resemble him.
One acquaintance tagged Robinson on popular messaging platform Discord, attaching the images with the caption “wya” and a skull emoji.
Robinson responded quickly, claiming the man in the images was his “doppelganger” and that the look-alike was trying to “get me in trouble.”
Another user in the group chat wrote, “Tyler killed Charlie!!!!”
The comment appeared to be made jokingly, per reports.
A new YouGov poll revealed that a significant portion of Americans believe Robinson was a Republican, despite official confirmation that the suspect had embraced leftist ideology.
The poll found that 24 percent of adults incorrectly believed Robinson was not liberal. Another 21 percent said he was a Democrat, 15 percent answered neither, and 40 percent said they were unsure.
Robinson’s family told investigators he had grown increasingly political and hateful in recent years.
He was living with his trans-identifying boyfriend, Lance Twiggs.
