The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced it will deploy additional agents to Minnesota following explosive allegations of widespread daycare fraud.
This comes after a social media investigation sparked national attention to facilities reportedly receiving millions in taxpayer dollars while appearing to operate without children.
FBI Director Kash Patel authorized the surge of federal agents to investigate fraud allegations that emerged on social media platforms this week.
The decision came after content creator Nick Shirley published footage documenting his attempts to visit multiple daycare facilities across Minnesota.
Shirley released a 42-minute video on Friday showing his visits to numerous centers that allegedly received state funding.
The footage depicts several facilities where children were not immediately visible during his visits.
One location featured in the investigation displayed signage identifying itself as “The Greater Learing Center.” The facility’s name contained a misspelling of the word “learning” on its banner.
Shirley claimed significant financial irregularities in a social media post on X.
“We uncovered over $110,000,000 in ONE day,” he wrote in the Friday post that gained widespread attention online.
The content creator urged followers to amplify the message.
“Like it and share it around like wildfire! [It’s] time to hold these corrupt politicians and fraudsters accountable!” he stated in the viral post.

Local news outlet KSTP conducted its own reporting on one of the facilities mentioned in the investigation.
The Quality Learing Center accumulated 95 citations for violations from a Minnesota state agency between 2019 and 2023, according to the station’s findings.
The scope of potential fraud in Minnesota’s Medicaid program extends far beyond the daycare allegations.
Assistant United States Attorney Joe Thompson indicated on Dec. 18 that suspected fraud in the state’s Medicaid program may exceed $9 billion, according to the Daily Caller.
Multiple state employees have come forward with serious accusations against Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN), Resist the Mainstream previously reported.
These workers alleged the Democratic governor engaged in “systemic” retaliation against whistleblowers who attempted to warn officials about fraud schemes.
The whistleblower allegations emerged as the Justice Department pursued multiple federal prosecutions related to the fraud cases.
The timing of the retaliation claims coincided with increased federal scrutiny of the programs.
Gov. Walz addressed the controversy during an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”
He acknowledged that Minnesota “attracts criminals” while simultaneously urging the public not to demonize Somali residents in the state.
The Treasury Department has opened an investigation into allegations connecting the fraud schemes to international terrorism, per the Caller.
Officials are examining claims that some proceeds from the alleged fraud may have been funneled to Al-Shabaab, a radical Islamic terrorist organization.
The purported daycare centers featured in Shirley’s investigation were described as Somali-run facilities.
One such center allegedly received $4 million in taxpayer funding despite not immediately appearing to have children present during visits.
