The Washington Post CEO and publisher Will Lewis announced Saturday that he resigns, effective immediately. The paper’s chief financial officer, Jeff D’Onofrio, will serve as interim CEO and publisher.
The leadership change comes three days after the Jeff Bezos–owned newspaper laid off roughly a third of its workforce, including more than 300 journalists, amid ongoing financial difficulties.

Lewis joined The Washington Post in January 2024, taking over as publisher from Fred Ryan.
More details are expected.
