On Friday, the White House introduced a website intended to spotlight perceived bias in left-leaning news outlets.
The site includes sections such as “Media Offender of the Week” and an “Offender Hall of Shame” and comes as the administration disputes how several media organizations have reported on President Donald Trump’s recent comments and reactions to a video released by Democratic lawmakers.
CBS News, the Boston Globe and the Independent were named the first “Media Offenders of the Week.”
The White House cited these outlets for allegedly misrepresenting Trump’s reaction to a Nov. 18 video in which Sens. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) and Mark Kelly (D-AZ), along with Reps. Maggie Goodlander (D-NH), Jason Crow (D-CO), Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA) and Chris Deluzio (D-PA), addressed military and intelligence personnel.
In the video, which was covered by Resist the Mainstream, the lawmakers stated that service members “can refuse illegal orders,” implying the president had issued unlawful directives, though no specific orders were cited.
According to the White House, some media outlets exaggerated Trump’s comments, suggesting he advocated the “execution” of lawmakers.
Responding to the coverage and the video, Trump posted on Truth Social, calling the lawmakers’ actions “really bad, and Dangerous to our Country” and labeling them “SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR FROM TRAITORS!!! LOCK THEM UP???”
In a separate post, he added, “SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!”
The website presents content in a fact-check-style format.
One section, titled “The Offense,” asserts that the media misrepresented Trump’s call for accountability, while another, “The Truth,” emphasizes that all presidential orders have been lawful and frames the lawmakers’ video as encouraging insubordination.
The site also notes that inaccurate reporting about military orders or presidential directives can create confusion among servicemembers and potentially compromise national security, according to LifeZette.
Beyond weekly offenders, the “Offender Hall of Shame” currently features the Washington Post, CBS News, CNN and MSNBC, now called MS NOW.
The leaderboard ranks outlets based on repeated mischaracterizations, with the Washington Post at the top, followed by MSNBC and CBS News.
Other outlets on the leaderboard include the New York Times, Politico and the Wall Street Journal. Each outlet on the list is linked to examples the White House says illustrate misleading or false coverage, according to Breitbart.
The site also tracks claims the administration considers false or misleading, categorized under headings such as “Bias,” “Malpractice,” “Lie” and “Left-wing lunacy.”
Each entry includes links to specific reporting the White House alleges misrepresents facts, providing a clear way for visitors to review evidence for themselves.
Officials have stated the content will be updated regularly as news coverage continues.
The launch underscores ongoing tensions between the Trump administration and various media organizations.
Supporters argue the website offers a direct way to highlight repeated misreporting and provides a public reference for evaluating coverage.
Critics, however, contend the initiative politicizes media assessment and could undermine independent journalism.
By combining offender rankings, fact-checking sections, false-claim lists and continual updates, the White House aims to create a lasting record of what it views as left-wing bias in national media.
The site represents a highly visible effort to influence public perception of news coverage while offering the administration’s perspective on contentious reporting.
It also reflects a broader strategy by the White House to assert its narrative directly to the public in the face of what officials perceive as persistent misreporting.
