The left’s entire model of public appeal has a critical structural flaw. That flaw is a powder keg waiting to explode.
Where the political right gathers together around common ideas (shifting more power to the individual citizen and less to the government, or equality under the law, or a business-friendly economy) the political left divides society into little partisan interest groups gathered around those smaller identities as the left promised to defend each little group against each group’s made-to-order ‘enemy’.
It’s no coincidence that the right is always slandered with all the left’s favorite slurs: racist, sexist, anti-LGBT, islamophobe, etcetera, ecetera. The problem with that strategy is that not all activists are chasing the same objective. In some cases, they are in direct opposition to one another.
We see an example of exactly that situation in Montreal, Canada over the last weekend.
Another Pride Parade blocked by Palestinian Protesters. How many times have you heard a single Politician speak out about this?
I’m going with zero.
Imagine the news if The Freedom Convoy blocked all Pride parades. pic.twitter.com/r05hsoURds— Ryan Gerritsen🇨🇦🇳🇱 (@ryangerritsen) August 11, 2024
We are likely to see more of it during the DNC’s Chicago primaries, and activists have pledged to ramp up the intensity of the university protests that we saw last year.
These blockades have been a recurring theme in Canada.
The East Coast too, in Halifax:
Belongs to us? That sounds like the language of conquest, not cooperation. Kinda weird, eh?
This ALSO sounds a lot like conquest:
Not really. Leftists have long since proven their committment to activism is first and foremost an avenue to shaping culture in their favor on the way to seizing political power.
Why should we be surprised when these same groups begin to bicker about who gets to weild the power such activism generates?
Kate got this exactly right:
The best part of the story in Montreal? This delicious piece of irony:
Like Democrat primaries where record campaign money is wasted on whether a Squad member or an Democrat Machine establishment type gets to represent a deep blue district… let them fight.
