The majority of Americans think President Donald Trump is lying about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, an exclusive poll from the Daily Mail shows.
A combined 56% of voters said they think Trump has not been truthful at all or “not very much.” Another 24% said he was “somewhat” truthful. Only 21% said he was “very much” truthful.
Despite this, the revelations don’t seem to be hurting Trump’s support. Of the 1,246 respondents in the JL Partners poll conducted November 19-20, 52% said the documents would not have changed how they voted in 2024.
Only 17% said the emails would have impacted their vote, and another 17% said it would actually make them more likely to vote for Trump.
The White House pushed back.
“It’s not news that Epstein knew Donald Trump, because Donald Trump kicked Epstein out of his club for being a creep,” a spokesperson said.
Trump ran in Epstein’s social circle in the 1990s and early 2000s and was pictured several times with Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year prison sentence. Trump says their relationship ended in 2007 when Epstein was kicked out of Mar-a-Lago.
“Jeffrey Epstein and I had a very bad relationship for many years,” Trump said earlier this month on Air Force One. He added he never visited Epstein’s private island.
The House Oversight Committee released thousands of pages of emails on Nov. 12, as reported by the Daily Mail.
One 2011 email from Epstein to Maxwell said: “[Redacted victim] spent hours at my house with him… I want you to realize that that dog that hasn’t barked is trump… he has never once been mentioned.”
That came years after Epstein served 13 months in jail for underage sex crimes.
A 2019 email from Epstein to author Michael Wolff claimed he was never a member of Mar-a-Lago.
“Trump said he asked me to resign, never a member ever. Of course he knew about the girls as he asked ghislaine to stop,” Epstein wrote.
Only 18% of respondents said the recent documents changed their opinion of Trump. Meanwhile, 64% said it had no impact on how they feel about the Epstein-Trump relationship.
The White House hit back at Democrats.
“Democrats and the media knew about Epstein’s victims for years, did nothing to help them, and Democrats even solicited donations from him AFTER he was a convicted sex offender. President Trump was calling for transparency and accountability, and is now delivering on it with thousands of pages of documents,” spokesperson Abigail Jackson said.
