Vance Cozies Up to the Elites

Vice President J.D. Vance is increasing his contact with wealthy Republican donors, major investors, and conservative activists as speculation grows that he is positioning himself for a 2028 presidential campaign.

According to the report, Vance has overseen more than two dozen Republican National Committee fundraising events since becoming finance chair. Those events reportedly raised more than $60 million for the GOP.

That role gives Vance an important advantage inside the party.

He is able to meet donors across the country, build personal relationships, and strengthen influence within Republican fundraising circles without formally declaring a campaign.

The report also said the RNC has an agreement that sends 5% of certain online small-dollar donations to Vance’s Working for Ohio PAC.

That means Vance is helping finance the national party while also maintaining his own political operation.

Several major financial figures were identified as attending events with Vance or operating in his donor orbit.

Those names included Miriam Adelson, Sergey Brin, Joe Lonsdale, Chamath Palihapitiya, John Paulson, Stephen A. Schwarzman, Jeff Yass, Paul Singer, and Rebekah Mercer.

The report also stated that Vance has hosted private dinners at the vice president’s residence in Washington.

Those meetings are politically valuable because private donor access often determines who receives early money and strategic backing before presidential races officially begin.

Vance is also continuing to build support among conservative grassroots groups.

He has appeared at Turning Point USA events with Erika Kirk, who publicly endorsed him for president.

She said she wanted Vance elected as the nation’s 48th president.

On policy matters, Vance is also raising his profile.

The report said he recently led talks with Iranian officials in Pakistan during a temporary ceasefire period and could lead another round of negotiations.

That gives him foreign policy credentials in addition to his domestic political role.

The report further noted Vance will campaign in Iowa on April 30 with Zach Nunn.

Iowa is expected to again host the first Republican presidential caucus in 2028, making early visits highly significant, per the Daily Mail.

Vance also recently announced a new book, Communion, focused on his journey from Christianity to atheism and later conversion to Catholicism.

Books are often used by national politicians to build an image, expand their audience, and prepare for future campaigns.

Prediction markets cited in the report currently list Vance as the leading Republican favorite for 2028 at 37%, ahead of Marco Rubio at 25%.

Vance has said he is focused on the 2026 midterms, not the next presidential race.

Even so, the visible pattern is clear: donor outreach, fundraising control, Iowa appearances, activist support, policy exposure, and personal branding.
