U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents shoot two people in Portland on Thursday afternoon, according to information released by the FBI, Portland police, and city officials.
Portland police said officers were dispatched to the area of Southeast 102nd Avenue and Southeast Main Street around 2:20 p.m. after reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers confirmed that federal agents were involved in the incident.
Shortly afterward, at approximately 2:24 p.m., police said they received a separate call from a man requesting medical assistance near Northeast 146th Avenue and East Burnside Street. Responding officers located a man and a woman suffering from apparent gunshot wounds at that location. Authorities again confirmed that federal agents were involved in the shooting.
The injured individuals were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Their exact conditions were not immediately released, though Portland City Council President Elana Pirtle-Guiney said she understood that both victims were still alive.
The circumstances that led to the shooting have not yet been disclosed. Local and federal authorities are continuing to investigate the incident, and no additional details have been released at this time.
