It’s a little hard to play that ‘defender of democracy’ card when you’re being sued for tyrannical misuse of government power… by very completely unrelated political adversaries you’ve targeted.
Kamala is about to wish her opening salvo wasn’t so closely connected with all Trump’s legal trouble… because that’s just one more data point in his lawsuit against the Biden/Harris Term of Tyrrany.
There were few meaningful checks and balances on their abuses of power. They knew it… and they acted accordingly, exactly as Lord Acton expected someone in their position would.
“Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men, even when they exercise influence and not authority; still more when you superadd the tendency of the certainty of corruption by authority.” — Acton
Not surprisingly, the people on what some might call an informal ‘enemies list’ and the people actually targeted by federal government agencies for one level of harassment or another would produce a Venn Diagram (you’re welcome, Kamala) with far more overlap than could be accounted for by mere coincidence.
The FBI using the ultra-left activist SPLC to identify domestic terror threats produced exactly the anti-conservative, anti-religious results you might expect. You can thank them for the targeting of Latin Mass attenders. Teachers’ unions and the White House coordinated the terror tag response to concerned parents protesting after 14yo girls were raped in their school bathrooms by boys in skirts. Grandmothers were thrown in prison for FACE act violations, but the people responsible for firebombing clinics and churches in the name of a pro-abortion domestic terror group roam free. Elon, who voted Democrat until recently, purchased Twitter and committed to principles of free speech… only to find that government agencies started harrassing and investigating each of his companies… including SpaceX for not hiring illegal aliens in an industry that is LITERALLY in possession of national security secrets.
Tim Walz leaked classified information about the National Guard to his leftwing activist daughter, and Biden sold classified information about Afghanistan to his ghostwriter for what, seven figures before he could claim the protections unique to the presidency? But Biden, though found to have violated the law is not facing charges because Hur didn’t think he was fit to stand trial. Walz has been picked to run as Veep. But Trump has his home raided by armed men in Mar-A-Lago, a staged, bogus photo circulated in the public just before an election, and a lawyer who has been unanimously slapped down by SCOTUS for sketchy prosecutorial practices in years past, who maliciously convened a Grand Jury in DC, despite the law requiring it to be conducted in Florida, and is even alleged to have used corrupt means to influence the legal teams or cause a co-defendent to flip on Trump.
Tulsi Gabbard, meanwhile, who was supposed to be the rising star in the Democrat party until she discovered that much of what her old party stands for now disgusts her, found herself on the terror watch list just one day after speaking out against team Biden.
Both Trump and Tulsi will be seeking their day in court, each for their own reason.
Tulsi
Tulsi’s story is quick to relate.
ost Sean Hannity informed his audience at least three to five air marshals had joined Gabbard on flights and that she was subject to a lengthy screening process.
“My real question is, what don’t I know?” she said. “This is the real pain and stress that’s been caused both to me and my family by this whole situation … day and night wondering if and what government institution and agency is monitoring my phone calls, surveilling me in my movement in my travels, knowing that they may be looking for some kind of excuse or derogatory action to come after me.”
Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) has come to Gabbard’s defense following reports from whistleblowers inside the Federal Air Marshal Service that she had been enrolled in the TSA’s Quiet Skies program, a suspected terrorist watchlist, according to a release from Burchett’s office.
“I have been told Mrs. Gabbard has been placed on a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) watchlist under a program known as ‘Quiet Skies’. I find this profoundly troubling for a number of reasons,” Burchett wrote in a letter to TSA Administrator David Pekoske.
“Given this environment, it’s impossible to feel free,” Gabbard said. “No American deserves this. No American deserves to live in fear of our own government.” — Washington Examiner
She’s on the TERROR watchlist? Seriously? Here’s a quick review of her service record (Wiki):
Gabbard is a recipient of the Combat Medical Badge and the Meritorious Service Medal. On October 12, 2015, she was promoted from the rank of captain to major at a ceremony at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. She continued to serve as a major in the Hawaii Army National Guard until her transfer to the 351st Civil Affairs Command, a California-based United States Army Reserve unit assigned to the United States Army Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Command, in June 2020.
In 2020, after serving with them for 17 years, Gabbard left the Hawaii Army National Guard for a new assignment with California-based Army Reserve unit. On July 4, 2021, Gabbard was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant colonel, while she was deployed to the Horn of Africa working as a Civil Affairs officer in support of a Special Operations mission.
If you’re going to put someone with some 20 years of military service on a terror watch list, you’d better have one hell of a reason. And they don’t.
The move was seen as retribution for Gabbard torpedoing Kamala Harris’ presidential hopes in the 2020 presidential primary debates. Sekulow called the action “political targeting and weaponization of the government, the likes of which we have not seen since the IRS Tea Party targeting scandal of the Obama-Biden years. And at the outset, this time it appears far worse.”
He noted, “Our Founding Fathers enshrined freedom of speech and protection from unreasonable searches in the Constitution for a reason. They knew the dangers of an unchecked government trampling on civil liberties. The Biden-Harris TSA’s apparent retaliation for Gabbard’s political activity is not just an affront to her rights but also to the rights of all Americans.” —Post Milllennial
She is launching a lawsuit against the Biden administration.
Trump
Buckle up, Merrick Garland.
Now that the judge has thrown out the Mar-A-Lago case against Trump, he has a case for malicious prosecution. And he WILL be pressing that case.
But U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, last month, dismissed Smith’s case against Trump altogether. Cannon ruled that Smith was unlawfully appointed and funded, citing the Appointments Clause in the Constitution.
Trump attorney Daniel Epstein filed the notice to sue the Justice Department. The Justice Department has 180 days from the date of receipt to respond to Epstein’s notice and come to a resolution. If no resolution is made, Trump’s case will move to federal court in the Southern District of Florida.
“What President Trump is doing here is not just standing up for himself – he is standing up for all Americans who believe in the rule of law and believe that you should hold the government accountable when it wrongs you,” Trump attorney Daniel Epstein told Fox Business’ Lydia Hu.
Epstein’s filing states that the “tortious acts against the president are rooted in intrusion upon seclusion, malicious prosecution, and abuse of process resulting from the August 8, 2022 raid of his and his family’s home at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach Florida.” Epstein added that the decisions made by the DOJ and FBI regarding that raid were “inconsistent with protocols requiring the consent of an investigative target, disclosure to that individual’s attorneys, and the use of the local U.S. Attorney’s Office.”
Epstein argues the decisions made by Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray were not grounded in “social, economic, and political policy” but instead, in “clear dereliction of constitutional principles, inconsistent standards as applied to” Trump and a “clear intent to engage in political persecution – not to advance good law enforcement practices.” — FoxNews
For all your talk of tyranny… this administration spends a lot of time on the wrong side of lawsuits fighting for the constitutional rights of US citizens… rich and famous or otherwise.
