Trump Stuns With Eleventh-Hour Pardons

President Donald Trump has issued a sweeping proclamation granting full pardons to at least 77 individuals connected to events following the 2020 presidential election.

Announced late Sunday night, Trump described the action as part of a broader effort toward “national reconciliation” after years of political division.

The official proclamation, signed Friday and released publicly Sunday evening, specifies that the pardons cover “certain offenses related to the 2020 presidential election.”

The document lists political figures, attorneys and activists who played roles in challenging election results or in organizing alternate elector activities in multiple states.

Trump characterized the pardons as “full, complete, and unconditional,” signaling the broad scope of his clemency.

Prominent figures named include former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, ex-White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows and attorneys Sidney Powell, Jenna Ellis, John Eastman, Christina Bobb and longtime Trump adviser Boris Epshteyn, according to the Washington Examiner.

These individuals had faced scrutiny for their legal and procedural efforts related to the 2020 election.

State political leaders also appear on the list.

Among them are Georgia Republican Party Chairman David Shafer, Arizona’s former GOP Chairwoman Kelli Ward and Nevada’s former chairman Michael McDonald.

Trump described their actions as attempts to “expose voting fraud and vulnerabilities in the 2020 Presidential Election.”

This latest clemency effort follows a wave of pardons issued last week, as previously highlighted by Resist the Mainstream.

That group included former Tennessee House Speaker Glen Casada and his former chief of staff Cade Cothren, who had been convicted in a state-level kickback scheme.

Former Major League Baseball outfielder Darryl Strawberry was also granted a pardon, with the White House citing his community outreach and addiction recovery work.

Edward Martin, a Justice Department attorney serving as Trump’s “clemency czar,” posted the full proclamation to X shortly before 11 p.m., emphasizing its scope with the post. “Important pardon of Alternate Electors of 2020!!”

Martin also referenced a previous slogan, “No MAGA left behind,” highlighting the administration’s focus on those charged in connection with election-related cases.

The proclamation explicitly excludes Trump himself.

“This pardon does not apply to the President of the United States, Donald J. Trump,” the document read, per the New York Post.

While the pardons prevent federal prosecution for those individuals, most had not faced federal charges at the time of the proclamation.

Legal experts note that the clemency may also shield them from potential future charges brought by subsequent administrations.

The proclamation is consistent with Trump’s recent use of clemency, which has focused on individuals tied to state and federal investigations stemming from the 2020 election.

By issuing this extensive list of pardons, Trump reinforced his executive authority to address cases he considers politically motivated or legally mishandled.

The overall list reflects a range of individuals from high-profile allies to state-level political figures.

It demonstrates the president’s continued engagement with matters arising from the 2020 election and highlights the administration’s approach to using clemency as a tool to correct what it views as legal and procedural injustices.
