Trump Slaps Top Dem Over Sick Kirk Comments

President Donald Trump has fired back at Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) following her controversial remarks about conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was tragically assassinated last week.

The president slammed Omar on Truth Social, questioning both her credibility and her background.

“Ilhan Omar’s Country of Somalia is plagued by a lack of central Government control, persistent Poverty, Hunger, Resurgent Terrorism, Piracy, decades of Civil War, Corruption, and pervasive Violence,” Trump wrote.

He continued, “70% of the population lives in extreme Poverty, and widespread Food Insecurity. Somalia is consistently ranked among the World’s Most Corrupt Countries, including Bribery, Embezzlement, and a Dysfunctional Government. All of this, and Ilhan Omar tells us how to run America!”

Trump escalated his attack by raising questions about Omar’s citizenship.

“Wasn’t she the one that married her brother in order to gain Citizenship??? What SCUM we have in our Country, telling us what to do, and how to do it,” he wrote. His post ignited widespread discussion online, with supporters lauding his defense of Kirk and critics condemning the personal nature of his attacks.

Omar’s original comments about Kirk came in the wake of his assassination, per the Conservative Brief.

During a recent event, she criticized those honoring Kirk, calling them “full of sh*t” for “rewriting history” and appearing to dismiss his legacy.

She also shared a video suggesting Kirk had it coming, which sparked immediate backlash from conservative lawmakers and commentators.

In response, Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) introduced a censure resolution against Omar, accusing her of celebrating political violence.

The resolution, however, narrowly failed, with four Republicans joining Democrats to table it. Mace condemned Omar’s rhetoric, stating, “What’s not ‘well’ is celebrating political violence,” emphasizing that mocking or condoning the death of a political opponent crosses a dangerous line.

Omar defended herself, claiming she never made the statements attributed to her and accusing Mace of fabricating quotes. She reiterated her position that she consistently condemns political violence, regardless of ideology.

Nevertheless, her remarks, or perceived remarks, have deepened the political divide, especially after the violent killing of a high-profile conservative figure.

The controversy highlights the intense polarization in American politics. Conservatives see Omar’s actions as evidence of a broader left-wing trend of dismissing the dangers of political violence when it targets their opponents.

They argue that figures like Omar contribute to a climate where extremists feel emboldened. On the other hand, Omar’s supporters argue that she was criticizing Kirk’s policies and legacy, not condoning violence, and that conservatives are leveraging the tragedy for political gain.

Charlie Kirk, 31, was killed during a Sept. 10 rally at Utah Valley University by a gunman who authorities say was influenced by left-wing ideology.

Kirk’s death has sparked national outrage and a wave of political discourse about extremism, political rhetoric, and the responsibilities of public figures in shaping public opinion.

Trump’s post against Omar underscores his commitment to defending Kirk’s legacy and attacking those he views as enabling or downplaying political violence.

The clash between Trump and Omar adds another layer of tension to an already volatile political landscape, setting the stage for continued debate over accountability, free speech, and political decorum.
