President Donald Trump delivered a stunning public rebuke of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) on Monday, accusing the Georgia congresswoman of betraying their alliance and pandering to political opponents.
Trump unleashed criticism against Greene while speaking from the Oval Office.
He suggested Greene was putting on “some kind of an act” and accused her of lacking understanding on key policy issues.
“I passed a great big beautiful bill, which is the biggest tax cuts in the history of our country,” Trump stated.
“So when somebody like Marjorie Taylor Greene, who’s now catering to the other side — I don’t know what, you know, I guess she’s got some kind of an act going, but I’m surprised at her.”
Trump continued his critique, adding, “But when somebody like Marjorie goes over and starts making statements like that, it shows she doesn’t know.”
The extraordinary clash between the president and the Georgia Rep. follows Greene’s recent public disagreement with Trump’s economic messaging. Just days earlier, Greene told CNN that grocery prices “remain high” and shared her personal struggles with inflation, contradicting the president’s more optimistic economic outlook.
The comments marked a rare public break between Trump and Greene. For years, she has stood as one of his most vocal defenders in Congress, supporting him through both impeachment proceedings, throughout the 2024 presidential campaign and against ongoing media criticism.
The relationship between the president and the congresswoman has displayed increasing tension in recent months, however.

Since winning reelection, Greene has adopted a more independent stance, occasionally breaking ranks with Trump-aligned members of the House Freedom Caucus on strategic and messaging decisions.
Last month, Greene escalated her criticism of the president, targeting his tariff and immigration policies during an interview with comedian Tim Dillon.
She suggested Trump’s tariff strategy was designed to benefit “crypto donors” rather than average Americans.
“I’m talking to major manufacturing companies that are-, they’re saying we support the president, we support what he’s trying-, his long-term goal. But we’re having problems with these tariffs. And now we’re having problems, we can’t get supplies from this country, and we can’t get supplies for this country. And there’s-, there’s problems,” Greene stated.
She pressed further on economic concerns facing ordinary citizens.
“But has the, has-, have regular people’s bank accounts been, been affected? Has the stress come off? No, that has not happened yet and that needs to be the major focus,” she added.
Greene then questioned Trump’s priorities directly.
“It shouldn’t be about helping your crypto donors, or your AI donors, or welcoming in these people that hated you and spent money to try to beat you, but all of a sudden are excited to come out to the to the new Rose Garden patio. That shouldn’t be the focus,” she said.
Greene went further in her criticism, accusing Trump of neglecting his core supporters.
She emphasized her commitment to the voters who attended Trump’s campaign rallies under difficult conditions.
“The focus should be the people that showed up at the rallies, stood there for freaking 18 hours trying to get in the rain, in the cold, in the 100 degree heat. for those people, those are the ones that I care about. Those are the ones that voted for not only the president, but every single Republican gave us power. I don’t think those people are being served,” she continued.
