President Donald Trump sparked outrage in the MAGA movement after publicly targeting Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) over his recent marriage, just 16 months after the death of his wife of 31 years.
Massie, 54, who has been a vocal advocate for releasing the Epstein files, became the subject of Trump’s social media attacks Friday night—moments before announcing he was breaking ties with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Trump posted a pointed message mocking Massie and his 36-year-old new wife, Carolyn Grace Moffa.
Trump wrote, “Did Thomas Massie, sometimes referred to as Rand Paul Jr., because of the fact that he always votes against the Republican Party, get married already??? Boy, that was quick!”
He continued, “No wonder the Polls have him at less than an 8% chance of winning the Election. Anyway, have a great life Thomas and (?). His wife will soon find out that she’s stuck with a LOSER!”
The comments immediately drew backlash online, with users criticizing Trump for attacking someone who had remarried after losing a spouse, per the Daily Mail.
One wrote, “Mocking someone that got a 2nd chance after losing all that. F*** this guy.”
Another highlighted Trump’s own marital history, noting that he had been divorced twice and calling him a hypocrite for criticizing Massie’s remarriage.
The feud exposed growing tensions within the MAGA coalition, which has seen prominent Trump allies—including Greene, Lauren Boebert, and Nancy Mace—backing Massie’s push for the release of the Epstein files.
Trump’s unfulfilled promise to release the documents has fueled claims of a cover-up, prompting calls from both Republicans and Democrats for transparency.
During a Friday radio interview in Cincinnati, Massie accused the administration of resisting the release to protect allies from embarrassment.
“They’ll claim privately they’re trying to avoid embarrassment for some of the president’s friends. And they’ll say that privately. They won’t say that publicly,” Massie said.
He added, “I don’t think embarrassment is a good reason, like saving somebody from embarrassment is a god reason to protect dozens of men who preyed on underage women in a sex trafficking operation.”
His continued feud with Greene mirrored Trump’s attacks on Massie.
He announced he was “unendorsing” the Georgia Republican, claiming she had turned “left wing” and detailing past disagreements over her Senate ambitions.
Trump criticized Greene for ignoring his poll, suggesting she shouldn’t run for Senate or governor, and accused her of being a “ranting lunatic.”
Greene responded with a statement and shared text messages, claiming Trump’s actions were tied to her vote on the Epstein files.
She wrote, “President Trump just attacked me and lied about me. I haven’t called him at all, but I did send these text messages today. Apparently this is what sent him over the edge. The Epstein files.”
Trump continued his attacks on Saturday morning, mocking Greene as “Marjorie Taylor Brown,” writing, “Green grass turns Brown when it begins to ROT!” He later added, “Marjorie Traitor Greene,” accusing her of betraying the Republican Party and comparing Massie to a “full fledged Republican In Name Only (RINO).”
The exchanges have highlighted the widening fractures in the MAGA movement as Trump targets allies who have supported initiatives he has not fully delivered on, intensifying political drama within the party.
