Trump Makes Flirty Comment About Possible Press Secretary When She Joins Him During Campaign Rally

The White House communications director floated a new title for Nicki Minaj on Sunday, before the rapper joined President Donald Trump onstage in Port Huron, Michigan.

Steven Cheung chatted with Minaj aboard Air Force One while en route to Trump’s midterm rally.

He then posted video of the exchange with a message to his followers: ‘Ladies and gentlemen, I think we may have found the new White House Press Secretary! @NICKIMINAJ.’

The post followed Katie Zacharia’s exit earlier this month.

Minaj replied by sharing it with an American flag emoji and a laughing face with a bead of sweat, leaving the job question unaddressed.

Alex Bruesewitz, a Trump outside adviser who counted Minaj among his wedding guests earlier this year, turned to her online following, known as ‘Barbz’ on X. ‘what do we think about this idea??’ he asked.

Fans replied online. One user, @musclepisces, wrote, ‘She understands media influence, public perception, crisis communication, and how quickly misinformation spreads.’

Cheung’s questions to Minaj, who wore a $6,000 Gucci suit, included one on the economy.

She answered: ‘Well, we have a president who understands economics first of all. You know, I’ve said before that the president is, naturally, a businessman,’ then added, ‘He’s worked his way out of not having a dollar left in the bank.’

‘If he can do that himself, with his own finances, surely he knows what to do with the country,’ she said. She turned to foreign affairs next: ‘He’s tough internationally. He tells them what we need, not what they need.’

The president’s schedule also drew her attention.

‘The man won three elections!’ she exclaimed, continuing, ‘He wakes up at four o’clock in the morning. He outworks people who are half his age.’

Minaj ended the conversation by pointing to Trump’s campaign help for fellow Republicans.

‘What does that say about his character? He’s paying it forward. He’s thinking about the other Republicans who have to win in this election. That tells me that he’s a great guy,’ she said.

On the Port Huron stage, Trump spoke about Minaj before she took the microphone. He said she had ‘beautiful a**’ and told her to ‘stand up’ and show it off.

He had paid Jon Husted, the Republican running for Senate in Ohio, a similar compliment. ‘I looked at his [Husted’s] a**’, Trump said, adding ‘I’ve never done that with a man before.’

Minaj then told the crowd: ‘President Trump, it is an honor to stand with you every single time, and I will continue to support you forever and ever.’ She continued, ‘If you run again, I will support you again.’

She had told the Daily Mail before the event: ‘This election is the most important midterm election of our lifetimes.’

The rally came with fewer than two weeks left before the midterms.

Republicans are trying to defy history in November, while Trump’s approval stands at a record-low 36 percent in the New York Times average and 61 percent of respondents disapprove.

Minaj is the latest celebrity to join Trump in the campaign’s closing stretch.

Mike Tyson, Jake Paul, Floyd Mayweather, Evander Holyfield and Jason Aldean have all appeared as recent guests.

She also joined him in January in Washington, DC, at an event for Trump Accounts, where he thanked her for putting hundreds of thousands of dollars into accounts for her supporters’ children.

He then went off script and invited her up with businessman and Daily Mail contributor Kevin O’Leary.

Under the program, children born from January 1, 2025, through December 31, 2028, receive $1,000 from the Treasury Department in a tax-advantaged investment.

Annual contributions of up to $5,000 can be added, and maximum contributions would project to $1.1 million at age 28.

At the podium in the Andrew W Mellon Auditorium, Minaj declared, ‘I am probably the president’s No. 1 fan,’ adding ‘And that’s not going to change.’

She said hate toward Trump pushes her and his backers to support him more.

The Trinidadian rapper told fans on X this year that she is working toward US citizenship.

‘Residency? Residency? The cope is coping,’ she wrote. ‘Finalizing that citizenship paperwork as we speak as per MY wonderful, gracious, charming President. Thanks to the petition.’

Minaj has also promoted Trump and Vice President JD Vance on social media this year, and she supported Erika Kirk at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest in December 2025.
