President Donald Trump is now facing intense backlash from within his own base after unleashing a fiery rant targeting some of the biggest voices in conservative media.
The fallout comes as tensions over the Iran war continue to divide the MAGA movement, with several high-profile figures turning on the president.
An X post from Candace Owens quickly went viral after Trump’s comments, with her writing, “It may be time to put Grandpa up in a home,” signaling just how personal the feud has become.
Trump originally ignited the firestorm by calling Owens, Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly, and Alex Jones “low IQ” and “stupid people” in a lengthy Truth Social rant.
He accused the group of undermining his agenda and claimed they were effectively siding with Iran by questioning his war strategy.
“They’re stupid people, they know it, their families know it, and everyone else knows it, too!” Trump wrote in the post.
The response from former allies was immediate and brutal.
Alex Jones said he was done supporting Trump entirely and didn’t hold back in his reaction.
“I have made it very clear that I no longer support Trump,” Jones said, adding that “the new Trump is a rotting husk of the old Trump.”
Other major figures in the MAGA world also joined in.
Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) blasted the president, accusing him of betraying his own movement over the Iran conflict.
“President Trump has gone mad as he wages war against Iran,” Greene wrote, adding that “we NEVER changed, Trump did.”
Longtime Trump supporter Tim Pool also reacted angrily, with reports describing him as “apoplectic” over the post.
Even those still backing Trump admitted the move may have been a mistake.
Influencer Mike Cernovich called the rant an “unforced error” and warned it was “bad politics” to attack figures who helped him win in 2024.
The backlash highlights a growing divide inside Trump’s base, particularly over his handling of the Iran war.
Many of the commentators he targeted have argued that the conflict goes against his “America First” campaign promises.
They have also suggested Trump was misled into launching the war under pressure from foreign allies.
Trump, however, doubled down in his rant, insisting that the critics do not represent the MAGA movement, the Daily Mail reported.
“These people have no idea how to do that, BUT I DO,” he wrote, claiming he could win them back at any time if he chose to.
He also mocked the group personally, revisiting past controversies tied to each of them in an effort to discredit their criticism.
Despite the attacks, some of the biggest names Trump targeted have yet to fully respond.
Carlson and Kelly are expected to address the situation on their shows, which reach millions of viewers.
The clash is significant because all four figures played major roles in helping Trump build support during the 2024 election.
