Details in the Jeffrey Epstein files are reportedly even worse for President Donald Trump than previously indicated.
Sources say the files contain information that could further implicate Trump in connections to Epstein.
Rumors about Trump’s association with Epstein have circulated within the Republican Party for months.
Now, conservative lawmakers are saying the files are more damning than earlier reports suggested.
Journalist David Schuster reported that several Republican representatives with ties to the FBI and Justice Department confirmed the new details. They described the contents as “worse” for Trump than initially believed.
Michael Wolff, who interviewed Epstein extensively before his death, told The Daily Beast last month that Epstein had shown him photos of Trump with half-naked young girls in his lap.
For months, only four Republican lawmakers had pushed for transparency on Epstein’s investigation. Reps. Thomas Massie (R-KY), Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Nancy Mace (R-SC), and Lauren Boebert (R-CO) signed a discharge petition demanding that the files be released.
Representative-elect Adelita Grijalva, who won a special election in Arizona in September, has also pledged to sign the petition.
Her signature would give the House enough to force a vote, per The New Republic.
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) has delayed swearing in Grijalva for over a month.
This has prevented the House from moving forward on the bipartisan petition to release the files.
The new rumors have increased Republican support. Schuster reported that more than 100 GOP lawmakers are now expected to vote with Democrats to force transparency.
The Trump administration has offered little response.
Attorney General Pam Bondi did not comment on the alleged photographs during a Senate hearing last month. Her silence reportedly concerned several Republican lawmakers.
The lack of response from Bondi has fueled speculation about Trump’s longstanding friendship with Epstein. GOP lawmakers interpreted her silence as a significant sign.
The discharge petition is a critical tool. It allows members of Congress to bypass a committee and bring a matter directly to the floor for a vote.
The petition has bipartisan support.
Democrats have been vocal about releasing the files, citing the public’s right to know about Epstein and his associates. It should be noted, however, that before Trump became president, they did not discuss the files.
Conservative representatives are now calling for full disclosure. They aim to address growing concerns about Trump’s alleged behavior and connections to Epstein.
Schuster reported that GOP interest in the files is rising. The goal is to act before the potential fallout worsens.
The controversy continues to grow. Trump’s relationship with Epstein remains a sensitive issue within the party. Lawmakers and the public are closely watching as calls for transparency intensify.
