A mother and her two children were found shot to death inside their Arkansas home on Wednesday, just one day after finalizing her divorce, authorities confirmed.
Charity Beallis, 40, and her six-year-old twins were discovered inside their $755,000 residence in Bonanza during a welfare check conducted by the Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office.
The deaths have drawn heightened attention due to their timing, occurring less than 24 hours after a court hearing that finalized Charity Beallis’ divorce from her estranged husband, Dr. Randall Beallis.
Court records indicate that Charity filed for divorce in March following Randall’s arrest in February for allegedly choking her in front of their children.
He later pleaded guilty to third-degree battery in October and received a one-year suspended sentence, along with fines totaling more than $1,500. A no-contact order barred him from contacting Charity or her family, according to Fox News.
The couple had been married since 2015. Following the domestic violence incident, Charity sought full custody of their twins.
According to court filings, the day after authorities discovered the bodies, Randall Beallis’ attorney filed a motion to dismiss the divorce case.
Charity had previously voiced concern for her safety and frustration with the legal system.
In August, she commented on a 5NEWS article about her situation, referring to herself as “the victim” and saying she had “been treated like the problem while the criminal—a local doctor—is being shielded by the very system that’s supposed to protect us.”
She said she had attempted to contact Prosecuting Attorney Daniel Shue, but “he won’t even accept a letter from me,” adding, “Lives are at stake, including the lives of young children.”
Republican Arkansas Sen. Terry Rice confirmed that Charity met with him earlier this year to discuss her concerns.
“She expressed real concerns about her safety and that of her children,” Rice told local media.
Authorities conducted the welfare check around 9:30 a.m. last Wednesday. Deputies were let into the home by two individuals who had access to the property.
All three victims were found dead from gunshot wounds. The sheriff’s office said search warrants have been executed, with additional warrants and interviews expected as part of the ongoing investigation.
Officials have not released information about any potential suspects.
Family members described Charity’s twins as loving and innocent.
John Powell, Charity’s eldest son, said, “Those kids were precious. Real precious, and they were innocent.”
Charity’s father described the loss as overwhelming.
“One moment I’ll be crying and the next moment I’ll be mad, I don’t know how to explain it,” he said, according to The Independent.
Another relative added that Charity “would have fought tooth and nail,” suggesting she likely “went out with a fight.”
Randall Beallis remains licensed to practice medicine in Arkansas, with his medical license active through February 2027, according to the Arkansas Department of Health.
Authorities confirmed that he has cooperated with investigators.
The Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office has not identified any formal suspects, and the investigation remains active as officers continue executing search warrants and interviewing witnesses.
The tragic deaths have sparked concern among local and state officials, highlighting ongoing issues surrounding domestic violence, legal protections for victims and child safety.
Investigators continue to pursue leads, emphasizing that the circumstances surrounding the killings remain under active review.
Public officials and family members alike are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward to assist law enforcement in solving the case.
