Outrage is growing in Toronto after a public school teacher allegedly showed children as young as 10 years old a video of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, a decision that has now resulted in the staff member’s suspension and a district investigation.
The incident occurred inside a fifth and sixth grade classroom at Corvette Junior Public School, where parents said their children were subjected to graphic footage of the conservative activist’s death.
Principal Jennifer Koptie confirmed in a letter to families that the individual responsible was a supervising teacher, not the homeroom instructor, and that the clip was directly tied to the murder of Kirk.
Kirk, the co-founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot Wednesday at Utah Valley University.
Authorities say he was targeted with a bolt-action rifle, and Utah Gov. Spencer Cox (R) later described the alleged shooter, Tyler Robinson, as “deeply indoctrinated with leftist ideology.”
Reports from students suggest the disturbing video was played repeatedly, with the teacher allegedly using the footage as a backdrop for a political lecture.
One account shared with the Toronto Sun said children were left shaken and went home to their parents in distress, explaining that they had been “traumatized at witnessing the on-camera death, which they were forced to witness numerous times over.”
The same source claimed the teacher told students Kirk “deserved” to die because of his stances on “transgender” issues and antifascism.
In her message to parents, Koptie said the report painted a deeply troubling picture.
“While an investigation must still be conducted to learn all of the details, the report of this incident is extremely troubling and completely unacceptable,” she wrote.
She confirmed the teacher had been removed from all duties and barred from campus while the review proceeds.
The principal also emphasized that steps were being taken to support students.
She explained that she would personally meet with the class and be joined by a member of the school’s Social Work team.
“I will be visiting the class along with a member of our Social Work team to check in with students and provide support,” Koptie assured families, adding that counseling would be available for those disturbed by the incident.
The Toronto District School Board has since launched a formal probe into the episode.
A spokesperson acknowledged that the video shown was related to Kirk’s murder and pledged that officials would determine appropriate consequences after the investigation concludes, OANN reports.
This controversy is not isolated.
In the United States, a growing number of individuals—including educators, politicians, military personnel, medical workers, reporters and government workers—have faced suspensions, terminations or other disciplinary action for posts celebrating Kirk’s death.
Some openly applauded the assassination on social media, prompting swift consequences across several states.
The wider backlash has highlighted concerns about how politically charged content is handled, both online and in schools.
Parents at Corvette Junior Public School say the Toronto scandal underscores an urgent need for stricter safeguards to ensure children are not subjected to political indoctrination or explicit material.
For now, the teacher remains suspended while the community awaits the outcome of the inquiry.
Suspended? SERIOUSLY? How about fired with their teaching certificate permanently revoked! What a cruel, immoral, OBSCENE thing to subject those little kids to! They’ll have traumatic nightmares for years now. Lord God in heaven–please keep exposing the demonic rot in people’s hearts for all the world to see. 😵💫🥺
