Prominent Democratic Party donor and Florida attorney John Morgan has criticized Vice President Kamala Harris’s losing presidential campaign, describing it as a “terrible” effort that should disqualify her from any future in politics.
Speaking on NewsNation with Chris Cuomo on Monday, Morgan expressed astonishment over the campaign’s mismanagement of $1.5 billion in funds, alleging that many individuals enriched themselves during the process.
Morgan suggested that donations poured in not because of enthusiasm for Harris but out of opposition to Donald Trump. “Everybody that was voting and supporting Harris was really voting against Trump,” he said.

When Cuomo asked whether he believed funds were misappropriated, Morgan clarified that while no laws may have been broken, money was likely “stolen legally.” He likened the situation to chaos, saying:
“Remember the movie Mad Max when everybody was just doing whatever they wanted, end of the world? That’s what happened here. All of a sudden, everybody’s got the keys to the candy store—ad buyers, talent, consultants. There were 100 days to do it, and the money started pouring in. And if you don’t run the ads, the buyer doesn’t get paid.”
Morgan criticized the campaign’s ad strategy, citing excessive spending in non-competitive states like Florida. He also highlighted a reported $900,000 expense to project Harris’s image on the Las Vegas Sphere as an example of mismanagement. “The ego, the crazy, the commissions—it was all out of control,” he said.
Morgan claimed that Harris’s failed campaign has permanently damaged her political prospects. “I think this disqualifies her forever,” he said.
“If you can’t run a campaign, you can’t run America, and that would be the argument from day one.” While acknowledging Harris’s debate performance as competent, Morgan maintained that her candidacy was doomed from the start.
“She should not have been the nominee. She was not going to win, and she didn’t win. She lost badly,” he said. “She’s got to figure out her life now. She’s in Hawaii, talking to donors about her political future, but I don’t think she has one.”
Morgan also reflected on Harris’s earlier political career, acknowledging her talent in California but asserting that she was unprepared for the national stage.
He cited her poor showing in the 2020 primaries, where she garnered just 8% support, as evidence of her lack of readiness. “We already saw what she looked like on the national stage. She was not ready for prime time, and then they rolled her out, and she got destroyed,” he said.
In a surprising theory, Morgan speculated that President Biden might have elevated Harris to the top of the ticket as an act of defiance against party leaders urging him to step aside.
“I think it was to say, ‘f-you’ to Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama, and others pushing him out,” Morgan said, referencing internal Democratic tensions.
Morgan, who helped fundraise for Biden, made it clear he never supported Harris as a candidate, labeling her as “no good” and unfit for the role.
