Stranger Utters Chilling One-Liner to Homeowner in Easter Nightmare

A Franklin Township, Ohio family experienced a harrowing encounter early Easter Sunday when a man allegedly brandished a knife and threatened to kill a family member “in the name of Allah,” according to authorities.

Anthony Tyrone Jessie Long, 23, was arrested and charged with aggravated menacing and aggravated trespassing.

The incident occurred shortly before 1:30 a.m. when deputies received a report of a suspicious individual outside a home.

A woman told dispatchers that a man had been walking around the property, knocking on doors, threatening her husband, and chasing her daughter as she arrived home, according to WXIX.

Long fled in a vehicle but was later stopped by Clearcreek Township police near Bunnell Hill and State Route 122 after a driver reported being followed and nearly rammed.

Surveillance footage from the Franklin Township home confirmed Long matched the description and carried a knife consistent with the victim’s account.

He remains in custody with a combined bond of $76,500 for the Franklin Township and Clearcreek Township incidents, reflecting the severity of the threats and aggressive behavior.

Authorities noted that Long had no known connection to the family prior to the incident, making the encounter even more alarming.

Eyewitness accounts highlighted the terror the family faced.

Tiffany Miller, the homeowner, wrote on Facebook that the suspect initially knelt in the driveway as if praying before approaching the front door while shouting threats.

“Around 1 a.m. Easter morning, our family experienced a deeply frightening and dangerous situation,” she said.

Her husband confronted Long briefly while instructing their daughter to drive away.

Authorities described Long’s behavior as erratic and aggressive. Deputies responded quickly, reviewing video evidence before taking him into custody.

“This type of threatening behavior will not be tolerated in our jurisdiction,” a sheriff’s office spokesperson stated.

Experts note that situations like this highlight the critical role of immediate reporting and law enforcement action.

Swift intervention prevented the incident from escalating into a physical attack, demonstrating the importance of community awareness and cooperation with authorities.

Law enforcement continues to investigate and evaluate whether additional charges may be warranted.

Miller and her family expressed relief that no one was physically harmed during the ordeal.

“Prompt action by both the family and law enforcement prevented the situation from escalating further,” officials said.

The Franklin Township Sheriff’s Office also emphasized that similar threats in the area are rare, but residents should remain alert, especially during nighttime hours.

As the case progresses through the legal system, it serves as a stark reminder of the unpredictable dangers families can face.

It also underscores the importance of preparedness, situational awareness, and trust in law enforcement to protect communities from sudden acts of violence.
