FBI Director Kash Patel was reportedly betrayed by two agents, who badmouthed their boss within the bureau.
The New York Times exclusively shared such details, which enraged Patel.
The FBI director has faced a whirlwind of criticism during his time leading the agency, including over his handling of the Charlie Kirk assassination.
In response to reports that the agents bonded over their shared hatred of Patel, the FBI director lashed out at the Times, calling the newspaper “NYTrash.”
He said that the magazine is the “journalistic equivalent of crash test dummies,” according to The Daily Beast.
Who are these two agents, you may be wondering?
Well, they are none other than Attorney General Pam Bondi and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche.
Not only do Bondi and Blanche allegedly share a negative perception of Patel, but the pair has reportedly had their relationship struggles as well.
Blanche is said to have been infuriated with Bondi after she became attorney general, given that he wanted this position.
Nonetheless, the duo bonded after Blanche came to Bondi’s defense over her handling of the Epstein files, which she received plenty of flak for.
It appears that Bondi and Blanche have further rekindled their relationship over their shared perception of the FBI director.
According to the Times, both DOJ officials believe that Patel lacks the qualities to lead the FBI effectively.
“They bonded, in particular, over their mutual disdain for the F.B.I. director, Kash Patel, whom they view as a lightweight more interested in social media than doing his job, according to seven current and former administration officials,” the outlet wrote.
Blanche interestingly shut down the Times’ claims about his relationship with Patel.
“Hey @FBIDirectorKash – the failing New York Times says we don’t like each other. Guess we’ll have to stop hanging out after work? Those dummies. Virtually every part of their ‘reporting’ is exaggerated or fabricated, per usual. If it wasn’t for Wordle, nobody would subscribe,” the deputy attorney general said on X.
Blanche’s statement prompted Patel to slam the Times fiercely.
The Times’ article centers on claims that Blanche is facing mounting criticism for defying MAGA and for not pursuing cases targeting the political opponents of President Donald Trump.
The latest example of this is the ongoing prosecution of Attorney General Letitia James, who is facing mortgage fraud charges.
Blanche and Bondi reportedly told the White House that there was insufficient evidence to convict James on any charges. Despite this, federal prosecutors secured an indictment against the high-ranking Democrat.
The Democratic attorney general is known for using her position to prosecute Trump.
In fact, during her campaign to become attorney general in the Empire State, she openly boasted about how she would “get Trump.”
In response to his comments addressing the Times’ report about his relationship with Patel, Blanche faced criticism for his inaction at the DOJ.
“Maybe try achieving a few indictments and prosecutions instead of waisting your efforts whining about your critics,” one user said.
“You are attempting to talk to him on social media for public spin rather than privately or in person, so that pretty much confirms the story since you are just putting on a show with this post,” another wrote.
