Shocking Mamdani Move Raises Eyebrows

New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani is stacking his transition team with high-profile names, and one of them is already raising eyebrows.

Katia Reguero Lindor, the wife of New York Mets superstar Francisco Lindor, has been named to Mamdani’s inaugural committee as he prepares to take office.

The announcement adds another celebrity-adjacent figure to Mamdani’s orbit as the self-described socialist signals exactly what kind of administration New Yorkers should expect.

Reguero Lindor is a podcast host and activist who runs “The Un-a-Parent Podcast,” a bilingual show centered on parenting, identity, and social issues. The podcast was cited directly in Mamdani’s transition materials.

She has also been openly political on social media, voicing support for Mamdani’s campaign during the November election.

In one post reshared during the race, Reguero Lindor defended progressive politics despite her financial status.

“Supporting politicians who fight for immigrants, artists, workers, and everyone who deserves a dignified life isn’t against my interests,” the caption read.

The post continued with a clear message aimed at wealth inequality.

“Your enemies aren’t the immigrants, they’re the one-percenters hoarding the wealth while leaving you without basic needs,” the post read.

Reguero Lindor has also participated in direct action. In 2023, she joined a two-day hunger strike protesting the Israel-Hamas conflict, drawing attention online for her activism.

Her social media presence includes frequent commentary on immigration, mixed-status families, and the political climate in the United States, themes closely aligned with Mamdani’s platform.

Beyond politics, Reguero Lindor has maintained a visible role around the Mets organization. Earlier this season, she performed a violin rendition of the national anthem at Citi Field before a home game.

Mamdani praised the composition of his inaugural committee in a statement announcing the lineup, as Trending Politics reported.

“Our city’s artists, thinkers, organizers and activists have shaped what New York looks, sounds and feels like,” Mamdani said. He called the moment “the beginning of a new dawn for our city.”

Reguero Lindor joins a roster that already includes actors and progressive activists, including John Turturro, Cynthia Nixon, and Kal Penn.

The move has reignited conversation around politics inside the Mets organization itself.

Veteran sports radio host Mike Francesa recently claimed that former Mets slugger Brandon Nimmo’s exit from the team was politically motivated.

“The Nimmo-Lindor thing, my understanding, was political,” Francesa said. “One side liked Trump, one side didn’t like Trump.”

Nimmo, who reportedly donated to President Donald Trump in 2020, was later traded to the Texas Rangers amid claims of internal division.

With Mamdani assembling a transition team heavy on ideology, celebrity, and activism, the message is becoming harder to ignore.

This administration is not trying to stay quiet.
