Ryan Wedding, former Olympic snowboarder, drug kingpin, arrested

Ryan Wedding, a former Olympic snowboarder accused of leading one of the most violent drug-trafficking organizations in the region, has been arrested, according to two law enforcement officials.

Wedding, 44, had been on the FBI’s radar for allegedly running a large-scale transnational drug operation that smuggled roughly 60 metric tons of cocaine each year into Los Angeles.

Authorities say the drugs were transported from Mexico using commercial semitrucks, a scheme outlined previously by Attorney General Pam Bondi during a press conference.

Prosecutors allege Wedding oversaw a wide-ranging criminal enterprise that relied on extreme violence to protect its operations. The charges include directing acts of witness intimidation, including murder, and personally profiting from millions of dollars in laundered drug proceeds tied to the trafficking network.
