A Kentucky man faces serious felony charges after a passerby spotted him engaging in a sex act with a dead deer on the side of a road in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky.
The suspect has been identified as Allen Osbourne.
A man driving through Muhlenberg County on Saturday witnessed the incident and immediately dialed 911 to report what he had observed.
The caller told authorities that he saw a man who appeared to be having sexual intercourse with a deceased deer on the side of the road.
Officers from the Central City Police Department responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, law enforcement found a man matching the description provided by the 911 caller.
The man was covered in blood and deer fur when officers located him at the scene.
Officers noted that the suspect still had his pants down when they arrived.
The man was positively identified as Allen Osbourne.
Osbourne was taken into custody at the scene without further incident.
He was subsequently charged with sexual crimes against animals, as reported by ABC 13.
During the booking process at the local jail, officers documented that Osbourne had blood and deer hair present around his genitals.
Under Kentucky law, sexual crimes against animals constitute a Class D felony.
If convicted, Osbourne faces a sentence of one to five years in prison.
The law under which Osbourne was charged took effect in June 2019 in the state of Kentucky.
Kentucky’s statute carries strict restrictions for those convicted under it, barring them from harboring, owning, possessing, or exercising control over any animal.
Convicted individuals are also prohibited from residing in any household where animals are present.
The law additionally bars convicted persons from working or volunteering in any place where they would have unsupervised access to animals for a minimum of five years following the completion of their sentence.
Individuals convicted under the statute are also legally required to relinquish custody of all animals under their control at the time of conviction.
Court records show that Osbourne is currently being held on a $5,000 bond.
He is scheduled to appear for arraignment in Muhlenberg District Court on Monday.
