A small group of anti-Israel activists attempted to disrupt a Jewish event near the Democratic National Convention (DNC) on Tuesday. The activists temporarily interrupted the gathering but were ultimately blocked from entering the event, which was organized by Agudath Israel of America.
The event focused on increasing voter turnout in the Orthodox Jewish community and addressing the rising issue of antisemitism in the United States. According to The Times of Israel, the event featured speeches from prominent figures such as Democratic Senator Debbie Stabenow, Representative Josh Gottheimer, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, and the chairman of the DNC host committee.
The masked activists outside the event called for the dismantling of Israel, chanting slogans like, “Brick by brick, wall by wall, Zionism has got to fall,” and shouted “Shame on you” at those attending the event.
Due to concerns about anti-Israel activists, organizers of Jewish events at the DNC have refrained from publicizing the locations of these gatherings. Thousands of anti-Israel protesters have gathered in Chicago during the DNC, with some protests turning violent. On Tuesday night, pro-Hamas radicals clashed with police outside the Israeli consulate in Chicago, where the convention was taking place at the nearby United Center. Demonstrators were seen burning an American flag and attacking journalist Ben Bergquam when he attempted to remove the flag from the flames.
Despite the unrest, Democratic leaders like Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer have emphasized the unity within the party, even as far-left activists engage in confrontations outside the convention.
