Powerful Trump-Hating Dem Nabbed in Explosive Scandal

Life hasn’t been easy for New York Attorney General Letitia James lately.

The high-profile Democrat, who boasted about prosecuting President Donald Trump, is now in deep waters after being indicted by a grand jury on bank fraud charges and making false claims to a financial institution.

Acting U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia Lindsey Halligan revealed the indictment on Thursday night, marking the latest high-profile case of a top political official in America.

James notably prosecuted Trump in October 2023, alleging that the then-presidential candidate engaged in financial fraud through his “Trump Organization” by inflating property values to lenders and tax officials.

During her campaign to become New York attorney general, James openly bragged that she would “Get Trump” upon taking office.

In a campaign aid, James is asked by a supporter if she would “sue” the president should she be elected attorney general.

In response, she said, “Oh, we’re definitely going to sue him. We’re gonna be a real pain in the a**.”

Despite her best efforts, James’ case was dismissed against Trump when we was elected the 47th president in November 2024.

Now, the tables have turned against James, who faces up to 60 years behind bars and a $2 million fine if convicted on fraud charges.

“No one is above the law. The charges as alleged in this case represent intentional, criminal acts and tremendous breaches of the public’s trust,” Halligan said. “The facts and the law in this case are clear, and we will continue following them to ensure that justice is served.”

As Trending Politics pointed out, the indictment revolves around a house that James co-purchased in Norfolk, Virginia, in August 2020 for approximately $137,000. Prosecutors alleged that the home was largely financed with a $109,600 loan that prevented it from being used as a rental investment property.

James vowed that the home would serve as her “principal residence.”

“I hereby declare I intend to occupy this property as my principal residence,” she said, according to documents.

Despite her statement, James’ office stated that the attorney general purchased the Norfolk home alongside her niece.

“Her niece lives in the home as a primary residence and the AG has been clear that she is not using the Virginia home as her primary residence, because she lives in New York,” the statement read, per the New York Post.

The office also released a blistering attack against the Trump administration, accusing it of weaponizing the government.

This comes years after James used multiple resources at her disposal to prosecute the president.

“Donald Trump’s weaponization of the federal government continues to careen out of control — and now they are using cherry-picked information to attack the Attorney General. We will have more to share on these political attacks, but the AG and our office remain focused on protecting New Yorkers every single day,” the statement said.

Following her indictment, James ranted against the president’s “weaponization of the justice system.”

“This is nothing more than a continuation of the president’s desperate weaponization of our justice system. He is forcing federal law enforcement agencies to do his bidding, all because I did my job as the New York State Attorney General,” she said.
