Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) appeared on ABC’s This Week on Sunday, where he made explosive claims about the Department of Justice’s management of documents related to late financier Jeffery Epstein.
During the interview, Massie questioned the president’s commitment to openness on the matter.
He referenced Trump’s previous associations with individuals connected to the case, stating that despite promises of full disclosure, the administration has fallen short of expectations.
The congressman did not hold back in his assessment of the current political climate surrounding the files. He suggested that wealthy and influential figures are actively working to prevent complete transparency on the matter.
Massie described his position in Washington as one of fighting against powerful interests.
He indicated that billionaire connections to those involved in the case present significant obstacles to achieving full accountability.
The confrontation has created visible tensions within the Republican Party.
What began as a policy disagreement has transformed into a significant political battle, with implications for party unity and Trump’s relationship with certain congressional members.
Attorney General Pam Bondi recently released a list containing 305 names of celebrities and politicians mentioned at least once in case-related documents. The list included prominent figures from various sectors, including entertainment, politics and international royalty.
ABC News anchor Martha Raddatz intervened during the Sunday interview to clarify that President Donald Trump has never been criminally implicated in any Jeffrey Epstein-related activity. She questioned Massie about his ongoing conflict with the Trump administration during Sunday’s broadcast of “This Week.”
Despite the completion of the document release as requested, Massie insisted there remains “work to be done” because of redaction errors that the Department of Justice quickly corrected.
The ABC anchor confronted Massie about a weekend incident involving Khanna.
The California congressman read names of innocent individuals who appeared in a police lineup, incorrectly describing them as “powerful men” being “protected” by the administration, according to media reports.
This false characterization effectively exposed innocent people’s identities while suggesting their involvement in a notorious sex-trafficking case.
Raddatz pointed out that Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche accused both congressmen of unmasking innocent people. She noted these individuals had no connection to Epstein or Ghislaine Maxwell and were simply part of an FBI lineup from years earlier.
Massie defended his actions by claiming he warned Blanche three hours before the names were unredacted. He stated he posted on social media that the individuals might be lineup participants and made similar statements on television.
The congressman argued that the Department of Justice released the names without including his context.
The Kentucky representative did maintain that certain names, including Bath and Body Works co-founder Les Wexner and DP World CEO Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, should have been unredacted.
Near the interview’s conclusion, Massie made his most inflammatory accusation. He labeled the current government the “Epstein administration” and suggested Trump participates in either criminal activity or a cover-up operation.
Massie claimed an “Epstein class” of billionaires funds attacks against him. He stated these individuals may or may not appear in the files but associated with people who do.
The congressman characterized these wealthy figures as his primary opposition in Washington.
