Former Vice President Mike Pence has become the subject of serious allegations circulating online that claim he is implicated in a federal investigation involving former national security adviser John Bolton.
The accusations emerged in an October 15 social media post alleging that Pence was under scrutiny for potentially leaking sensitive national security information, interfering in the dismissal of former national security adviser Michael Flynn and engaging in misconduct connected to the January 6, 2021, Capitol protest.
However, no publicly available court filings, Justice Department announcements or independently verified evidence substantiate those allegations.
The post, published by an account called DeepLeaksHQ, claimed Pence had been implicated in the Justice Department’s investigation of Bolton, who served as national security adviser during President Donald Trump’s first administration.
It further alleged that federal investigators were examining whether Pence unlawfully disclosed sensitive White House information to media organizations.
The allegations also referenced Bolton’s previous description of Pence as a “consistent ally” during their time serving in the Trump administration.
The account suggested that the two former officials could face federal indictments involving multiple criminal offenses.
However, the post did not identify a federal prosecutor, provide charging documents or present evidence establishing that Pence was under criminal investigation.
The allegations have attracted attention partly because Bolton has already faced federal prosecution involving classified national defense information.
In October 2025, a federal grand jury indicted Bolton on 18 counts related to the unlawful transmission and retention of sensitive government information.
Federal prosecutors accused Bolton of using personal email accounts and unauthorized messaging services to transmit classified material while serving as national security adviser.
The documents reportedly included highly sensitive intelligence concerning foreign governments, military operations and American national security activities.
The case subsequently reached a significant development on June 26, 2026, when Bolton pleaded guilty to willfully retaining national defense information.
According to the Justice Department, Bolton admitted to retaining highly classified information and transmitting sensitive materials to family members who lacked authorization to receive them.
The plea agreement resolved the 18-count indictment and required Bolton to pay a $2.25 million fine.
He is scheduled to be sentenced October 28.
Despite the online accusations linking Pence to the case, the Justice Department’s public statements concerning Bolton’s prosecution do not identify the former vice president as a participant in the criminal conduct.
Pence previously faced a separate federal investigation after classified documents were discovered at his Indiana residence in 2023.
That investigation concluded in June 2023 without criminal charges after prosecutors informed his attorneys that they would not pursue the matter.
The latest allegations also revive longstanding controversy surrounding Michael Flynn’s departure from the Trump administration in February 2017.
Flynn resigned after misleading Pence about communications with the Russian ambassador, but no verified evidence establishes that Pence orchestrated a scheme to frame him.
Pence’s involvement in events surrounding January 6 has also been extensively examined, although he has not been charged with criminal wrongdoing related to the Capitol riot.
The latest claims remain unsubstantiated.
While Bolton’s classified-information prosecution is a documented federal criminal case, there is no verified indication that Pence faces a related indictment or that prosecutors have implicated him in Bolton’s offenses.
