MAGA suffered hard in Virginia as voters flipped the state Democrat.
Just four years ago, Republicans elected Glenn Youngkin and Winsome Earl-Sears to serve as governor and lieutenant governor, respectively.
Turn the clock to the present day, Earl-Sears lost her gubernatorial bid to Democrat Abigail Spanberger.
Youngkin had chosen not to run for reelection.
As if that isn’t bad news enough for conservatives, Virginia has elected a man who fantasized about murdering Republicans as its next attorney general.
Jay Jones, who, in leaked text messages, was seen fantasizing about killing Republicans, will serve as the next attorney general of Virginia.
Jones defeated Republican incumbent Jason Miyares.
In a text message, Jones says that former Virginia House Speaker Todd Gilbert (R) should receive “two bullets to the head.”
“Three people, two bullets,” Jones writes.
“Gilbert, hitler, and pol pot,” he added. “Gilbert gets two bullets to the head.”
“Spoiler: put Gilbert in the crew with the two worst people you know and he receives both bullets every time,” Jones went on.
Even the recipient of Jones’ messages told the newly elected attorney general to stop.
“Please stop,” the person said.
“Lol,” Jones replied. “Ok, ok.”
Despite Jones calling for what could be inferred as a political assassination against a Republican, voters in Virginia still elected him to serve as the state’s next attorney general.
Jones’ victory came slightly before New York City voted to elect socialist Zohran Mamdani as its next mayor.
Mamdani defeated former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) by an extensive margin. President Donald Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk supported Cuomo.
Nonetheless, conservatives on social media ranted against Jones’ victory in Virginia.
Conservative commentator Mario Nawfal pointed out the “insane” election results.
“The insane part isn’t that Jay Jones texted about shooting Republicans. It’s that 50% of voters saw those texts and thought ‘yeah, that’s my guy for top law enforcement officer,’” Nawfal said. “One in four Virginians read about putting ‘two bullets’ in Todd Gilbert’s head and decided it was merely ‘concerning but not decisive.’ Like finding out your surgeon collects human skulls but hey, he’s got steady hands.”
“We’ve reached peak 2025: half the electorate sees political assassination fantasies as normal Tuesday behavior. The other half still has functioning alarm bells. Virginia just normalized what should be disqualifying. That’s the real story,” he added.
Like Nawfal, other conservatives stated that Jones’ victory would be detrimental to residents.
“Virginians are f*cked. Agreed, the issue is the supposed majority saw his behavior and said ‘I approve of this. How can we move forward where the sides are at this level of opposite? One side is ok with f*pping to murder and trying to kick dogs, while the other doesn’t,” one user said.
“Remember, a large percentage was okay with the assass1nation of Charlie Kirk because ‘words’. This shouldn’t be surprising,” another wrote.
