Michigan Mormon Church shooting: Multiple victims, fire reported

Multiple victims were reported after a shooting unfolded Sunday morning at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc, Michigan, according to a statement posted by the Grand Blanc Police Department on Facebook.

Authorities confirmed that the suspected shooter is down. Shortly after the attack, a massive fire broke out at the church, with officials describing the blaze as severe.

Genesee Township Fire Operations said that the fire had reached a fifth alarm, indicating a major emergency response. Crews also reported a partial building collapse and multiple people trapped inside.

Police stressed that there is no ongoing threat to the public. However, they have not yet provided details on the number of victims or the extent of their injuries.

Videos circulating on social media showed thick plumes of black smoke rising from the church as firefighters worked desperately to control the flames.

In response to the unfolding situation, officials have opened a reunification site at a pavilion just north of the church. An additional offsite reunification center has also been set up at the Trillium Theater near Holly and McCandlish roads to help families locate loved ones.

The situation remains fluid, and local authorities say further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
