Former Actress Meghan Markle, who notably starred in the hit TV series “Suits,” has had a rough week after it was revealed that she has lost 10 publicists in the past 5 years.
The Duchess of Sussex, married to Prince Harry, has not had a great TV career beyond her time as an actress.
After leaving Hollywood for Buckingham Palace, Markle has struggled heavily in the streaming world, specifically on Netflix.
On Thursday, it was reported that Markle parted ways with her 10th publicist, who had a top role at Netflix.
A close friend of the publicist made it clear that they aren’t the quitting type.
Former Senior Director of Publicity at Netflix, Emily Robinson, left Markle’s team as director of communications.
Robinson had an extensive career at Netflix, having also served as an actress, producer, and director. She is known for promoting the TV series “The Crown,” which details the life of Queen Elizabeth II.
One of Robinson’s friends said they found her decision weird, since she usually doesn’t quit so easily. They noted that the circumstances must not have been extraordinary for her to depart.
“It was her decision. She left a few weeks ago. She’s not a quitter, so things must have been pretty horrible for her to go,” the friend said.
As the Daily Mail reported, there are now just two individuals remaining on Markle’s team: European director of communications Liam Maguire and chief communications officer Meredith Maines.
Such disastrous news for Markle comes 8 months after she faced shocking plagiarism accusations.
In March, the Duchess of Sussex was accused of copying Pamela Anderson’s cooking show.
Markle’s show, “With Love Meghan,” bore striking similarities to “Pamela’s Cooking With Love,” as Resist the Mainstream previously reported.
Markle’s latest devastating blow comes a week after reports surfaced detailing that a charity linked to the former Royal official was accused of racism and sexism.
World Vision UK, which is described as a Christian organization that tackles child poverty through humanitarian aid and other measures, was accused of operating a “toxic” and “hostile” work environment.
The charity’s human resources team allegedly “mispronounced the names of non-White and their accents were imitated by colleagues,” per the Daily Mail.
World Vision UK denied the allegations, noting that only a small number of former employees had brought them forward.
“We are not currently under investigation by the Charities Commission. If the Charity Commission contacts us in relation to this we will fully cooperate,” a World Vision UK spokesperson said. “We don’t believe the allegations made by a small number of former employees who have recently left the organisation are true.”
“Our talented and dedicated staff are hugely important to us. We provide various mechanisms for dealing with any staff complaints and if these are upheld, we act immediately to put things right and take action following our policies which are robust and fair,” the spokesperson added.
“The international development sector has faced a number of challenges which has led us to restructuring the organisation. We remain committed to our goal to help the millions of children across the world facing hunger, poverty and threats to safety,” the spokesperson went on. “We recognise such challenges, which have involved job losses through redundancy, are painful for us all as many valued employees have had to leave World Vision UK.”
