The FBI announced a nationwide crackdown on the violent Latin Kings gang, resulting in nearly 50 arrests as federal authorities intensified efforts to dismantle organized criminal networks operating across multiple states.
The sweeping effort was dubbed Operation Broken Crown and unfolded over three months, involving more than a dozen FBI field offices working with federal, state, local, and tribal law enforcement partners nationwide.
The operation targeted gang violence, large-scale drug trafficking, and threats against law enforcement officers as the Trump administration continues prioritizing aggressive action against violent criminal organizations nationwide.
According to the FBI, the initiative led to the seizure of more than a dozen firearms, nearly $200,000 in illicit cash, and over ten kilograms of cocaine, fentanyl, and other dangerous narcotics.
FBI Director Kash Patel credited President Donald Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi for driving the bureau’s intensified focus on dismantling violent gangs and restoring public safety in American communities.
Patel said the FBI is breaking gang operations at a record pace and emphasized that aggressive enforcement saves lives by removing dangerous criminals from neighborhoods plagued by organized violence.
He noted that gang takedowns surged dramatically in 2025, citing a reported 210% increase in operations targeting MS Thirteen and Tren de Aragua, per Fox News.
Patel said the Latin Kings crackdown demonstrates federal law enforcement will continue working around the clock to crush violent crime and dismantle networks harming the American people.
The FBI confirmed that one Latin Kings member explicitly threatened a law enforcement officer in October 2025 and was later arrested following a coordinated investigation.
In Minnesota, another alleged gang member was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm and stealing government property from an FBI vehicle during a criminal incident.
An investigation led by the FBI’s Indianapolis office resulted in a Latin Kings member receiving a 21-year federal prison sentence for methamphetamine distribution offenses.
Separate enforcement actions in Milwaukee led to multiple arrests, the seizure of 10 firearms, and the recovery of more than $120,000 in illegal funds.
Additional suspects connected to the Milwaukee investigation were later arrested, and agents recovered a rifle equipped with a machine gun conversion device.
Federal officials said Operation Broken Crown reflects a broader strategy to dismantle violent gangs nationally while reinforcing law and order and protecting law enforcement officers.
Patel said the FBI will continue pursuing violent gangs relentlessly as long as they threaten American neighborhoods, communities, and the safety of police officers nationwide.
