The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, has announced a new role in Hollywood, marking her return to the acting industry after trading Los Angeles, California, for Buckingham Palace.
Markle has faced intense difficulties following her tense departure from the Royal Family and it appears that such challenges will remain.
Markle, who starred in the famous law-based TV Series “Suits,” attempted to launch her own cooking show in March.
However, she was hit with shocking plagiarism allegations involving similarities between her show and Pamela Anderson’s.
She also lost her 10th publicist just two weeks ago, marking the latest loss she suffered over the course of five years, Resist the Mainstream previously reported.
With her unfortunate record in the entertainment production industry, Markle is now setting her sights on making a return to the place that gave her fame: Hollywood.
Markle’s return to acting comes nearly a decade after she traded movie sets and scripts for charity work and advocacy campaigns.
Now, the duchess will star in an upcoming film titled “Close Personal Friends.”
The movie is based on two couples, one of which is famous and the other isn’t, as reported by the Daily Mail.
Markle was spotted on the set of the movie in Pasadena, California, on Wednesday, according to the Daily Mail.
A source studio emphasized the importance of the role for Markle.
“This is a massive moment for Meghan and signifies a return to doing what she truly loves,” the source said. “She has been swamped with offers but this one felt right.”
“It is Meghan’s way of gently putting her toe back in the water and seeing how she enjoys being back on set. Everyone involved is super-excited, and have been sworn to secrecy about her involvement,” the source added.
Markle, as previously mentioned, rose to prominence in Hollywood for starring as Rachel Zane in “Suits.” However, she has had minor roles in other blockbuster films, such as “Horrible Bosses”, “Get Him to the Greek” and “Dysfunctional Friends.”
Markle’s husband, Prince Harry, appears to be very supportive of her return to the acting world, as The Sun reported.
“Prince Harry is, of course, really supportive and quite simply wants Meghan to do whatever brings her joy,” the outlet wrote.
Harry has had trouble dealing with Markle’s intimate scenes in films, however.
In his autobiography, Spare, the prince recalled a moment where he saw Markle “mauling” a co-star as part of a scene.
“It would take electric shock therapy to get those images out of my head,” Harry said.
It appears that Hollywood isn’t as thrilled to reunite with Markle as she is.
Sources told Page Six that the honeymoon period for Markle and Harry in Hollywood is over.
“There is not only no appetite left for them in LA, but they’ve also worn through any good will they had,” a source said.
“People are sick of them, the act has gotten stale,” another source told the outlet.
