A man allegedly traveled roughly 1,000 miles to Miami in hopes of marrying adult content creator Sophie Rain before grabbing her after she rejected him, according to a member of her team.
The incident reportedly occurred in May during Miami Swim Week at the Mondrian South Beach hotel, according to MARCA, citing Rain’s marketing director, Connor McCrory.
McCrory said the unidentified man had traveled from New York specifically to meet Rain.
“At first, it seems he traveled from New York to Miami specifically to meet Sophie,” McCrory said. “That immediately raised great concern among everyone around her.”
The situation became more alarming, McCrory said, when the man allegedly explained that he had crossed several states because he intended to marry Rain, despite never having met her.
“It wasn’t someone who simply recognized Sophie and asked her for a photo,” McCrory said. “He claimed to have traveled through several states because he intended to marry her.”
According to the account, the man approached Rain in the hotel lobby and attempted to grab her after she rejected him.
Members of Rain’s team moved her away from the man and alerted hotel staff to the situation.
“Our only priority was to get her away from him and make sure she was safe,” McCrory said.
He added that the alleged physical contact made the encounter significantly more serious from the team’s perspective.
“When someone says they have traveled so far to marry a person they have never met and then tries to grab her, it cannot be treated as a simple harmless emotion,” McCrory said. “It has to be taken seriously.”
The report does not identify the man involved in the Miami incident or indicate whether police arrested him or filed criminal charges.
Rain has developed a massive online following through subscription-based adult content and social media. She has also attracted attention for publicly saying she intends to remain a virgin until marriage.
The reported Miami encounter comes amid separate security concerns surrounding Rain.
MARCA reported that another man, identified as Connor Litka, had allegedly described Rain as his partner despite the two not actually being in a relationship. The outlet reported that he had expressed an intention to find her in Florida, per Marca.
According to the report, Rain’s security was strengthened after Litka was no longer at an Indiana facility where he had been held.
The two incidents were described separately, and the man accused of approaching Rain at the Miami hotel was not identified as Litka in the report.
McCrory said Rain’s team treated the Miami encounter as a safety issue rather than an ordinary interaction with a fan, particularly because of the distance the man allegedly traveled and his stated intention to marry someone he had never met.
