Federal investigators have released surveillance footage showing a mysterious masked figure at the front door of Nancy Guthrie’s home in the upscale Catalina Foothills neighborhood of Tucson, Arizona, in the early morning hours of Feb. 1.
The footage, released by the FBI, shows an unidentified suspect standing at Guthrie’s front door, captured by her Nest doorbell camera.
Sources familiar with the investigation told ABC News that the masked individual had visited the property on at least one prior occasion before Guthrie’s abduction.
In the earlier visit, the suspect appeared at the front door without a backpack, an image that was also captured on the Nest doorbell camera and later released by the FBI.
Investigators now believe the suspect noticed the doorbell camera during that first approach and fled the scene before taking any further action, according to reports.
The suspect then returned to the property a second time, this time taking deliberate steps to obstruct the camera’s view.
During the second visit, the masked figure was captured on video tampering with the Nest doorbell camera device itself.
In addition to tampering with the camera, the suspect placed branches directly in front of the camera lens in an apparent effort to block its recording capabilities.
The Guthrie home is located in the Catalina Foothills, a neighborhood in Tucson, Arizona known for its affluent residents and elevated terrain north of the city.
Federal investigators have taken an active role in the case, with the FBI releasing the surveillance images to the public as part of the ongoing investigation.
The footage released by federal authorities shows the suspect wearing a mask, and the individual’s identity has not yet been established by investigators.
Last week, President Donald Trump issued a stark warning to whoever is responsible for the disappearance of Nancy, the 84-year-old mother of NBC’s Today show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie.
The president declared that those responsible could face the ultimate punishment under federal law, Resist the Mainstream reported.
Trump addressed the ongoing case directly, stating the abductors would face “very, very severe—the most severe” federal consequences if Nancy Guthrie is found dead.
When pressed on whether that statement meant the Department of Justice would pursue capital punishment, the president responded, “The most, yeah, — that’s true.”
Nancy Guthrie was last seen on the evening of January 31, 2026, after family members dropped her off at her home in the Catalina Foothills area near Tucson, Arizona.
