Kamala Fiercely Roasted Over Controversial Blunders

Bill Maher slammed former Vice President Kamala Harris on his HBO show this week over her new memoir, 107 Days, criticizing her for not taking responsibility for her loss to Donald Trump in the 2024 election.

Maher opened by mocking the book’s title, saying, “Kamala Harris’s new memoir of the 24 election is called 107 Days. But it should have been called Everyone Sucks But Me. 107 Days is a victim’s title, because get it, she only had 107 days to win.”

He highlighted the advantages Harris had during the campaign, including billions in funding and a base of roughly 75 million voters willing to back any candidate other than Trump.

Maher also pointed out Harris’s repeated blame of former President Joe Biden for not dropping out sooner. Biden officially stepped aside on July 21, 2024, and Harris was named the Democratic nominee just over two weeks later on August 5.

Maher ridiculed Harris’s complaints about California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D), who she claimed ignored her calls requesting his endorsement.

Newsom had texted, “Hiking. Will call back,” and Harris said he never responded. Maher joked, “Gavin Newsom … didn’t even ask her to prom.” Newsom later endorsed Harris the same day, explaining he didn’t realize it was her calling.

The talk show host also mocked Harris’s running mate selection, as the Daily Mail reported.

Maher noted that she avoided choosing Pete Buttigieg as her vice president, citing his sexual orientation and claiming it would have been “asking a lot of America.”

Instead, Harris picked Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D).

Maher quipped, “America, America itself, lets Kamala down by not being ready for the running mate she really wanted, Pete Buttigieg. So she’s stuck with the Home Depot paint salesman, and the rest is herstory. Poor Kamala.”

Maher ridiculed the dramatics Harris described for election night, noting her aides removing “Madam President” from cupcakes after it became clear she had lost. He compared the scene to a rom-com, saying, “Oh, jeez, that’s like a scene from Bridget Jones Runs for President, for Christ’s sake.”

Harris did take partial responsibility for messaging issues on “trans” athletes in female sports. In her book, she acknowledged that her lack of clarity allowed Trump to define her position and run effective ads framing her as “pro-‘trans’.”

She wrote, “I agree with the concerns expressed by parents and players that we have to take into account biological factors such as muscle mass and unfair student athletic advantage when we determine who plays on which teams, especially in contact sports.” She added, “With goodwill and common sense, I believe we can come up with ways to do this, without vilifying and demonizing children.”

Despite her acknowledgment, Harris insisted that Trump and Republicans misrepresented her stance, referencing his ads with the tagline, “Kamala is for they/them. I am for you.” National Democrats, including Newsom, have said it is unfair for “trans” girls to compete in high school sports, highlighting ongoing debate over policy and messaging.
